Were not getting roughed up and physically dominated like in years past.

We actually look like the more physical team.

Reaves, Domi, Bertuzzi, Edmonson, huge additions

Boston is also the least intimidating team we've faced in a while, they are just dirty.

This team is not the same as years before... they have slowly been getting softer every year.

Would still like to see Marner moved down to the third line away from Tavares

5 on 5, it would spread out the offense and the two haven't been effective thus far.

Tavares also had one of his most effective outings in the season with youngsters on his wing. And at home one can control the match ups too.

I am actually a little scared if Keefe is gonna galaxy brain at home LOL

Probably Dewar. I don't think they can justify taking Knies out right now.

McMann hasn't even started skating. He's not playing this round I don't think.

Dewar or Knies

i dont expect to see mcmann back in this series...

and not sure it will be robertson, maybe it will be holmberg who will move out of line up.

i can see robertson-Dewar-Nylander.

Holmberg and they make Willy or Jarnkrok Center? Maybe not lol

probably Knies. I don't think Keefe is gonna mess with the 4th line

I thought McMann's injury was more severe. Has he even been out there on optional skates? I didn't see him

All good points, good problem to have as I thought Dewar was awesome, as was Knies.

You need Marner to match up with pasta

Honestly if it were me I would do

Domi. Matty. Jarnkrok
Bobby. Jt. Mitch
Bert. Holm. Willy

Sit the kids. That gives a defensive presence on top 2 lines and let. Willy feast

Probably

Gonna be the Swedes. It’s tough. Robby should have had 2. He’s just small

You don't break up Bert off the top line with how they've played.

Mitch/Tavares just don't have the magic anymore. Tavares played his best when he had the kids on his wings as they had some speed and tenacity.

I'd probably try:

Bert-Matthews-Domi
Nylander-Holmberg-Marner
Knies-Tavares-McMann

Robertson hasn't been too bad but he's the odd man out.

Or drop Marner to the kids' line:

Bert-Matthews-Domi
Knies-Tavares-Nylander
McMann-Holmberg-Marner

Key reason for that is to give Marner easier match ups and try to drive more offense from the depth. At the same time he's a good defensive player that could be quite beneficial for two inexperienced players. You could also flip McMann and Knies

I think JT and McMann had something brewing. They played off each other well.

I wouldn't mess with the lines until I had to (Nylander return, and even then is just to swap him and Nicky Bobby I think).

See my post above lol, I'm thinking the same.

But Keefe is in his own universe just jamming them together.

f*** this little rat

It wasn't even a slash/tap; all he did was scrape his leg a bit. Equally as embarrassing though is the fact the refs didn't call that embellishment. Hopefully, the refs look at that and don't give him any benefit of the doubt the rest of the series (although I know they probably will).

You know it's bad when Jack is screaming about it. Good for him. But refs will double down Wednesday.
I think that's just an old clip of him that's been posted over the video lol. He doesn't sound anywhere near that sharp anymore. Edwards would never be such a non-homer

Keefe having no confidence in him in previous years' doesn't help. Seems like he's worried one mistake will send him to the press box.

He was much better this season when he was given leash to play his game, and the minutes to do so.

Need this playoff experience to grow.
I don't think it's that, he never looks good when there is a forecheck, when he can just skate out he's great. That isn't playoff hockey, he needs to make quicker reads under duress, he hasn't shown me that yet. Keefe benched Benoit for him, he's given him the shot in the arm. He sticks in the top 6, but has to show better IQ for me or he's just a ticking time bomb.

Hey my Leafs friends,

Just got a chance to check on the game and really happy for all of you.

I know many of you were understandably nervous

But great to hear that some of your beauties found their scoring touch

Looking forward to seeing the highlights after I get some supper.

Cheers
OIC. She missed the puck. I may have been distracted.

Give Tavares two skilled grinders... that's where he has been the best his entire career... give him a couple of guys who can work off the cycle and retrieve pucks, that line would suck to play against.

I would say give him Knies and Jarnkrok, but not sure a line of Willy - Holmberg - Marner works.

Great win! On a lesser note:

In that third, on the 4 on 4, I love how Benoit played Marchand in front of the net. After the hit, he was ruthless and won the puck battle. I’ve wanted to see us taking that man in front and making life hell for the opponent for ages.

Also, huge respect to Knies for taking huge hits to make plays. I’ve been wanting this from Mitch and William for years. Playoff hockey is just a different beast.

Let’s keep it going.

I know am getting ahead of myself but imagine Holmberg taking 2C next season with Tavares slotting on the wing and Minten taking 3C to start the season.

How great would that be

This is true. It's quite evident that they are a smart defensive team that's well coached to their strengths with a good PP. They know how to use their scorers, they have good leadership and poise.

But they're not an unbeatable powerhouse. TBH for the Leafs it's more about the mental game than the opposition.

Honestly I think McMann sits if Dewar continues to show well. Knies always seems a lock with Keefe and the kid takes a shot and keeps coming. Bobby might have to wait his turn, which is a nice problem to have. Seems he isn't that close either though.

I'm not sure about Holmberg yet but I would like to give him some rope. I like his skill set as a solid mid-tier centre that could a strong two-way player as he gains experience.

Would like to see some heavier play but that could come with time.

Some interesting elements there

Well, glad to see people see the the sun will indeed rise.
Great moves by Keefe, Samsonov had a good game when he was one of the few who had the confidence to stay with him. He's letting Matthews thrive. He put together a great line in Matthews, Domi Bertuzzi. Even tried to get Marner going by trying to get him on the ice with Matthews without messing up the top line too much. He's utilizing the 4th line which is dominating the Bruins in their end.

I know Leaf fans focus on everything that's wrong with the Leafs, but the Bruins look weak and have a terrible coach. The coach of the biggest playoff disappointment last year who looks ready to do it again. Montgomery is an idiot. Doesn't even realize that the Playoffs are different than the regular season. Changing goalies was idiotic when you had a goalie that was getting into the heads of the other team and was giving your team confidence. Ullmark was fine, but you get on a roll, you don't go away from what's winning. But their dummy coach does! And when the game gets in the crucial moments with a power play he doesn't even put his best players on the ice together....because that's what he did in the regular season.

Be very thankful Keefe is a much better coach than the idiot the Bruins have :DD

Boston has been playing pasta and marchand on 2 different lines that would mean Matthews line will go up against either marchand or pasta line.

we would still need another line to go up against the other.

I need Willy to go completely dominate other match-ups.

I have no doubt Matthews line would be able to win their match up;

if we can put up our strongest D-pair out there against the other and Nylander's line can just feast on boston's 3rd line and 3rd pair.

Damn, gotta give JE some credit here. Normally he'd be calling Bert a vicious goon for that. And of course we have to endure Simpson chastising Bert for daring to touch Ratley.

There is 0% chance the audio is from that clip.

I've seen enough of Edwards to know that he was likely calling for Bertuzzi to be banned from the league.
