The only Kraken prospects playing D in Coachella are Fleury, Ottavainen and Nelson. Fleury is a UFA (Group 6) at the end of the season, and I would be surprised if he re-signs. I would be surprised if Jugnauth has not offered an ELC.

He is still very slight and already 21 and teams only have so much room for guys his size on the back end, is he that type of guy?

True. Kraken have already signed Drago and Price, I guess they have enough depth there. But he deserves an ELC, as leading WHL defenseman scoring.

He's an example of something that might be used now, using the college commitment to persuade an ELC from a team. A new negotiation tactic.

May very well receive an ELC but wouldn't use "leading WHL defensemen in scoring" as the only measure of whether he receives a contract or not..

High scoring undersized players - especially overage players - are not uncommon in junior (or for that matter college) hockey.

Most hit their peak either in the AHL or Europe.

He can sign an ATO and report to Coachella and play AHL games without losing his NCAA eligibility. See Connor Levis who played AHL games last year and his committed to Bowling Green for next year :

If he signs an ELC, obviously his NCAA eligibility is gone.

I'd assume he's doing the NCAA thing as a fallback or to put pressure on Seattle as he's surely going to get an NHL ELC either from Seattle or from another team if they don't sign him by May 31.

Ahh. Didn't know that. If the Kraken don't offer him an ELC by 05/31, any other team is free to do so?

Yeah, he's a 2004 so he's too old to go back into the draft, and would become a UFA on June 1 if not signed by Seattle.

Really starting to look like a late bloomer. Has always been a great skater, but now with this new confidence he's taking over games and attacking defenses.

What would be the big concern(s) with Jugnauth right now? Size for sure. But any other major issues outside of that?

I think that people need to temper their expectations a bit he is an 04 and just to compare Denton Mateychuk is an 04 putting up nearly a PPG in the AHL, Korniski is in the AHL and while Jugnauth might eventually turn into a dect pro it's still a long road ahead here.

Size for sure and just his defensive game in general. Still a long way to go for him to predict NHL success but he's certainly trending well again

Of course, but I don't think anyone was comparing Jugnauth to Mateychuk or Korchinski...both those guys have much more pedigree. I was just pointing out how well he's doing and might be a later bloomer.
