anyone have any idea how his defensive game is progressing?

will he get a look next year?

His team in Seattle has a major lack of scoring. He is relied on to be a point producer so his defensive game isn't shown on a nightly basis like it was at the WJC. His team has other shutdown type dmen that they use so that Theodore can use his energy on scoring goals and getting assists for Seattle.

Im sure he will get a look, but he will 99.9% be in AHL next year. Anaheim has a good young set of Dmen in the NHL already so I cant see Shea beating any of them out of a spot

You seem to follow junior hockey closely - who do you see having a better chance of stealing an NHL spot, Theodore or Montour?

This is a very accurate statement, but I would like to add that I don't think his defensive game has improved by a ton since his rookie season. He isn't Derrick Pouliot bad, but I don't think he will shine in this area as well, probably will top off as average at best IMO. Compared to someone else around his game, I think Bowey is much better than Theodore defensively.

Regardless of how good either is, both will likely start in Norfolk next year. There just isn't room with all of Vatanen/Fowler/Lindholm/Despres/Wisniewski/Stoner under contract and the possibility of Beauchemin re-signing.

I truly do not know. I love both prospects and will be keeping a close tab on who gets a spot first. My honest opinion though is that I could see one of those 2 involved in a trade if Anaheim makes any big trades in offseason up until next year's deadline. Anaheim has done such a good job drafting and acquiring dmen...

Fowler (Left shot)
Wisniewski (Right shot)
Lindholm (Left shot)
Vatanen (Right shot)
Despres (Left shot)
Montour (Right shot)
Theodore (Left shot)
Pettersson (Right shot)
etc
etc

Like you couldn't draw up a better depth chart than what Anaheim has going on right now

Wow, now that's a jam... Wonder who they'll move in the future to make the room.

I saw Theodore play live a few weeks ago..he was fantastic....would trade Biff to anaheim for him and something else in a heartbeat...

On the goal he scored he picked the corner like a 50 goal forward...sky is the limit..

Pettersson is a leftie and you completely forgot Manson. Late boomer prospect playing in his first full pro season and held his own in the ~30 games in NHL already. http://ducks.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8476312

My bad about Pettersson!... ya there are other dmen that I left off the list.. Stoner, Holzer, Manson and Welinski are others... Like honestly their d-core of youth is crazy. That's why it wouldn't surprise me to see Theo or Montour traded if Anaheim makes any big trades.

Theodore and Montour next season in the AHL is going to be an absolute treat to watch on the PP. WOW

I wouldn`t count Stoner and Holzer, but yeah, someone will be moved eventually. I`m not sure who, but i think that Lindholm is the most untouchable one.

Shea Theodore made the CHL first team all stars and is up for defensmen of the year award

Ahead of Morrisay who is in 2nd all star team. And his award for top defenceman is between him and draft eligible Provorov, i think there is a good chance THeo wins between those two.

I haven`t seen a single game of Theo in WHL, but his performance in AHL as well as WJC i saw him, he really has made me believe he will be a special player once polished.

PS
Before WJC`s i had doubts about his defensive side. He showed he is damn good defensively and did everything there on his off (right) side.

But but but the guy in the thread earlier wasn't wowed by his skating and he saw all of Canada's world junior games!

I saw all the games too. Kid is an amazing skater. Should have had more icetime than one other WJ dman I can think of.

Shea Theodore

I saw Theodore play live a couple of weeks ago and was really really impressed. He scored a goal on an amazing shot..just picked the corner..it was a beaut.

He has great size and is an excellent skater.

He doesn't get enough attention. As a jets fan, would send Buff to Anaheim for him and another player pretty quickly.

What is his ceiling?

Top end ceiling? First pairing D probably.

I would say that he's more likely to be a good #3 who runs the top PP unit.

Theodore ended his brief AHL stint this year absolutely on fire 4 goals 8 assists 12 Pts in 9 games
This kid is a stud
