I don't know, there's been a case of mistaken identity at the draft before.

I'm aware of this case but don't think mistaken identity has anything to do with Swedish Aho going undrafted. Everyone knew there were two, a skilled Finnish forward and a skilled undersized Swedish defenseman. There's gotta be something about him that has turned all 30 teams off of him. Mistaken identity is just a silly excuse.

how has he been so far?

Really liked him at the WJC way back.

I have seen this guy quite many times. He reminds very much of Vatanen. Not as good skater as Vatanen tough.

Anybody keeping tabs on Skelleftea? Is there some glaring weakness in Aho's game? 48th EU skater from ISS. Seems low. Every viewing I've had has given me the impression that he has NHL skating, stick and instincts. What gives?

This thread is about the Swedish Sebastian Aho. I think you might mean the Finnish Aho who just scored twice in WHC semifinal. He's drafted to Carolina Hurricanes (2015, 35OA).

Jeebus cripes! I know which Sebastian Aho I'm talking about. Please stop derailing the thread.
Are you actually asking about Swedish Sebastian Aho?

The timing is odd, considering Finnish Sebastian Aho just had a two-goal game today to defeat Team Russia at the Worlds. There hasn't been a new post in this thread in nearly four months.

Yes, I'm actually asking about Swedish Sebastian Aho. I'm still wondering how it is that he has been passed over twice. The timing is a coincidence. I happened to be going through the top LHD PMD in this draft, and his name came up. I was asking for an update on his season in Skelleftea.

You realize he plays for Finland:help::sarcasm:

I really liked his game for Sweden at the WJCs last year and hoped the Sabres would take a late round flyer on him or invite him to prospects camp. He is small but does fill a need for the organization as a LHD that can move the puck and run a PP.

Any chance somebody uses a 6th or 7th rounder this year on this guy? I would love to see Carolina draft him. lol

Interesting discussion. If he's available late rounds and you've decided you want him, do you use your pick and get the rights for 4 years, you can wait a little bit, let him develop in pro hockey for a year or two still, and then sign a 2-year ELC.

The other alternative is to hope nobody else picks him up and then sign him to a 3-year ELC right away after the draft. I'm not even sure the SHL-NHL transfer agreement allows for him to come over to North America right away, should that be the case. If he's drafted the club can sign him until Aug 15th.
