Yeah, and the reason was, "Toronto, Calgary, Columbus, and New York were poorly managed teams".
Stralman was always an effective defender, from day 1, but since he wasn't "toolsy" so dinosaur front offices were quick to turf him.
Pretty sure people compared him to Bobby Orr, or a bigger Niedermayer when he got exceptional status. Just shows how hard it is to evaluate defenders that are still in Bantem. He could easily slip to the 3rd, a lot of what will determine his draft status the average fan isn't going to know about. He is a guy they will be doing extensive background checks on, and see how he shows up to the combine and interviews. If he shows up out of shape like he did to the Hilinka it may kill his draft stock and have a Nick Ebert like fall.any chance he slips to round 3?
I seem to remember this kid being a potential top 5 pick at one point... unless i'm losin it.

Jets would be one of the teams I'd think are least likely to draft him, they seem to place a high-emphasis on character. If I was betting on it, I'd put my money on the Isles taking him (see Ho-Sang, Kabanov, Cizikis, Pilon etc). They don't seem afraid of that gamble, all those guys got flagged for character concerns, sometimes it works out (Cizikis), sometimes it doesn't (Pilon and Kabanov).Winnipeg Jets, 36th pick. Mark my words.
I don't know what Sean Day did to Leafs93 but it seems like he will not rest until he has convinced everyone how terrible Day is and doesn't any redeeming qualities
I think he's looking to steal Day in round 4.
This kid has had a tough go with very high expectations and family issues. I think he needs a break and coming to an exciting young team that desperately needs a LHD quality prospect. He can have the time he needs to develop.
Hasn't done anything to me, but so many of the people who want Day either haven't watched him and are going off his reputation as a 15 year old. He's barely progressed in 3 years. I don't want the Leafs to take Day, knowing what I know about his work ethic and commitment to the game. But my opinion has no barring, and to think I bash him as a prospect because I want him in the 4th is pretty faulty logic. Flat out, his only good skill is his skating, and he didn't even dominate the on-ice combine at the top prospects game, which is dominated by elite skating players.I don't know what Sean Day did to Leafs93 but it seems like he will not rest until he has convinced everyone how terrible Day is and doesn't any redeeming qualities

No matter where he goes he will be a top 4 dman for any team. He's a late bloomer. Some guys are great early some are great later. He's going to have a great career but will need a bit of time. Brent Burns, Roman Josi, Mark Giordano, etc.
Patrick O'Sullivan's troubled past didn't prevent him from being a top OHL player.
Have you seen him play in the OHL this season? in any season? People who haven't seen him much if at all seem to have a high level of optimism that is based solely on looking at his size and knowing he's a great skater. The current question marks are one's that have been raised even when he was being considered for exceptional status. Most of those question marks haven't improved any in 3 years.

Its stating an opinion on the situation. I never questioned him as a person outside of his conduct involving hockey. Full disclosure I know people who work for the Steelheads, and they are pretty down on the kid, his attitude and how he goes about things. I hope for his sake he figures it out. But, everything I've said has happened. He showed up to Hilinka 20 to 30 pounds overweight, the work ethic questions and his attitude problems existed prior to the "family issues", he did get suspended by the team for just randomly leaving the bench in a game because he wasn't happy with being benched and has been purposely difficult with the coaching staff and management trying to force a trade to the Knights. None, of what I've said has been attacking him in anything outside of a hockey context. But what do you gain be repeatedly bashing an 18 year old, even questioning his character and him as a person (over and over) for 3 pages when there is barely anyone pumping his tires? It seems unnecessarily personal and mean spirited for no reason. It's not like he is an NHL player making millions
Day has Canadian citizenship. Both his parents were born in Toronto as was one of his three brothers. He’d like to wear the Maple Leaf in international competition. However, Day failed to crack the under-18 team for the Ivan Hlinka championship in August. It didn’t help that he showed up to the Team Canada camp more than 15 pounds heavier than his listed 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame.
NHL Central Scouting then rated him as a B-level player – a distinction that warrants second- or third-round consideration for the draft – a grading Day feels is out of line.
“The reason I was rated as a B player was my ‘character’,” he said. “They talk about my weight a lot. But I’ve already lost 20 pounds since coming here so I’m down to 225, which is a good playing weight.”
The cloudy one: Seidel currently has Day ranked as the 32nd overall pick. He even knows a few in his scouting brethren that don’t think Day will be drafted. At all.
He felt things in Mississauga weren’t going as planned and had serious conversations with agent Pat Brisson and the group at Creative Artists Agency about asking for an off-season trade.

all this can be written about the majority of junior players. The only reason there is a spotlight and this is a story is because of the "exceptional status" tag
kid is not guilty of anything its all on HC with their exc. status bull, until McD finally made them realise the reality
as for Day, he garners the constant critique for no other reason
he will go first or early second and he will make many GM's who passed on him regret it
I heard most of this first hand, but you first say I'm lying and its heresay, then when I find sources that back what I said, you say I didn't know anything. Choose to believe whatever, I know what I know about the situation. Mississauga is my local OHL team, and you hear things through the grapevine. And, no this can't be written about a bunch of jr players, you don't hear of many kids with that level of talent getting healthy scratched for leaving the bench or not attending practices, and I don't know of one other player who showed up to the Hilinka camp 20 to 30 pounds overweight. You seem to think higher of Day than almost every scouting service, and its not common, the closest comparable is Ho-Sang, who while difficult, tended to at least produce on the ice.You wrote initially like you where in the "know"

3. Sean Day. Sigh. Okay, he’s down 20 pounds at least from last summer. At 230 he still looks like a beer leaguer but it’s a start. It didn’t look like he bought into the idea that the combine was a chance to make a big impression.
He went from ordinary to very ordinary to below average at the stations, and seemed sort of nonchalant. You look at him and think: How does an unathletic kid possess plus-plus skating? This is one of life’s mysteries and the reason that someone will undertake Day as a challenge.
Doesn't sound like he went full out at the combine
