What can you offer to take him on? He's slowed down quite considerably, but is still solid in his own zone and is a gritty, tough, heart-and-soul type of player.
player is as described but we waited WAY too long to move; cumulative wear and tear now.
He has min positive value [like Lindy + 2 4ths for 2 3rds]
and likely gets moved as cap in a deal

These sorts of players are those that you have to pay to get off your cap sheet. Since it's still a large portion of his 4.5 mil cap hit, you'd probably need to pay a 3rd round pick for a team to take him on for you. I'd do that if I were the Sharks but as bern is the resident Rangers trade guy, he ain't having none of that so you guys will be stuck with him.

I imagine the Rangers let him walk and then whomever signs him will be content with the effort he plays with, but when the effort is great, but the skills were never there and the body is broken it still sucks.

He's a UFA, so he still has rental value. But the point is moot because Rangers will just keep him as a rental or he'll be the cap dump going the other way to make the deal work.

He can still get the dif on trade down tho that potential max return is lessening by the day.

If you are serious, in the interest of getting Mancini slotted asap, I would do a 4th and Lindy for a 7th

Assuming the Rangers dont just keep him (as they should for their own playoff aspirations), what would be the ask from Utah?
there is max value in a vacuum, and then there is take less to get a deal done b'c other considerations [playing Mancini]

I'll give you same offer I made above, if you eat all 4.5 expiring cap
Lindy + 4th for a 7th

Just out of pure curiosity... If you were to take out that 4th and replace it with Cuylle, what would you want?

But to your proposal, absolutely yes. We suck back there, and we'd only have a 1 year commitment to decide if we like the player. Outside of the additional cap we take on (big whoop, we ain't competing this year), there is no downside.

Probably something like a second or third, maybe a late pick too. Rangers have cap room to retain if it helps since he’s an expiring contract.

Cuylle is non starter, sorry
I said don't break up kid line, and I wuz right x 2, w/both Chytil + Brodzinski !!! at pivot, Ws Cuylle + Kakko have produced

We have some interesting earlier picked prospects -- Sykora, McConnell-Barker, coupla others -- who can have a cup o coffee now and possibly be in your picture 'round the corner.

And I actively wanna move Vesey to make room for Rempe. Vesey is obv not Cuylle and dif type o player but still productive = useful stopgap

what do you offer?

I’d rather be looking at a team like Columbus tbh. Lindgren (possibly with retention) for Fabbro. Maybe toss in a low pick. That lets the Rangers run

Miller-Fox
Schneider-Trouba (good in SSS this yr)
Jones-Fabbro

It's going to be a pretty big red flag for other competitive teams that a competitive team is looking to dump him for nothing for the most part. And considering the role he fills is one that teams tend to have plenty of options for, I don't think he has any trade value. But I do agree that he could be a cap dump for a deal to work.

Rangers wont move him this year. Unofficial cult hero of the lockerrom. They might have split him up with Fox on the top pairing, but highly unlikely he would be moved during the season. If they weren't in a cap crunch they would keep him throughout next season but they are going to feel the squeeze next year.

Realistically, we don't know that NYR actually want to move him. Fans want to move him. But yes, the only way you trade Lindgren to a contender would be if one the following happened.
1. A big hole opened up for the contender and they need a defender and are willing to pay a good price.
2. Something went terrible wrong for Rangers in their season after thanksgiving, whether it's an injured player they need to replace or their record tanked.

They will also be ending the season with the following needing to be addressed on defense. So I don't just see them tossing Lindgren during the season.
1. Trouba's movement?
2. Miller's contract if they don't negotiate through the season.

On top of that, the team was pissed when they moved Goodrow. Lindgren and Fox are super close. As contenders the team will not be pleased with the organization moving Ryan Lindgren, who has spent so much of his time being injured from sticking up for his teammates.

A player better than Cuylle. Rangers won't be adding Cuylle to a make a Lindgren trade look more sexy.

Cuylle hits. Plays with pace. Creates puck separation (I bolded this because this is something not many NYR players do. This is also something that gets highly overlooked when fans talk about size and grit. "We need size." "We need more hits!" No, you need puck separation.) Cuylle has been defensively responsible and is also generating offense. He's playing 3rd line but performing more like a top 6 player right now. I have no idea if that's going to last through the season, but it's exactly what this teams needs as far as culture and on-ice performance.

It wouldn't be a draft pick unless we're going to get crazy here with the offer. It would have to be something that makes us better than Cuylle in the lineup.

Lindgren should be dumped for picks or prospects and Rangers should then add to whatever they get back for an upgrade. Would love Gavrikov but doubt that happens.

No, you don’t. Insane take. 1 year at 4.5 for a productive player? :help:

We aren’t looking to dump him. A few over reactive fans who can’t control their emotions sully his reputation on this website.

Shouldn’t take that as the team is about to trade him. He may not be re-signed, but that’s not the same thing as we’re about to dump him at the deadline. Straight up bet with anyone that wants it for $500. We can exchange addresses. Team isn’t trading him at the deadline.

All that wear and tear, breaking him down. Sad because he's been such a warrior, playing through so many things that look like they'd put most players on the shelf. But that takes a toll and time is one opponent who remains undefeated.
