LD Rasmus Sandin - Rogle BK, SHL (2018, 29th, TOR)

Going be an interesting rest of year for him.

If he performs well and has a great training camp next year, it's not crazy for him to get NHL games next season, similar to Dermott last year.

He was excellent in the WJC, was by far the Swedes best Dman in the Quarter Final, putting up a game high 28:04 of icetime. Just a solid, all around player. Good pick.

Confirmed that Toronto has not made a decision where Rasmus will continue to play this season.

Deadline is Monday.

Sandin played 29 minutes against Syracuse on Saturday. Anyone know the last time an 18 year old defensemen played close to 30 minutes/game in the AHL?

He's turned in to an all-situations work horse for the Marlies with Liljegren and Rosen missing time.

He's going to get a crapload of minutes in a week or two when Rosen gets the call.

He’s our best prospect for sure. Should be a solid top 4 guy... exactly what we need on our back end

I really wanted Sandin at the draft, was happy we picked him, and very happy to see him doing so well with the Marlies. I hate comparing own prospects, but he has passed Liljegren already IMO.
Hoping for Rasmus Sandin. Fast skating, puck moving defencemen are a premium these days, and you just never know with these Swedish defencemen, could be a steal. With the Soo being Dubas' former team before he joined us in 2014, you know he kept tabs on the team and Sandin as well this year.

Wanted Sandin with the Rangers 28th overall but they decided on Lundkvist instead. with the development of Miller and Lundkvist pretty happy so far but would have been amazing to grab Miller and Sandin!!!

Gotta give credit where it's due, the Leafs have been very good at stocking their prospect cupboard.

Leaf fans are so used to our prospects being shit it's just so refreshing having confidence in scouting again. It gives me hope they can contend for a long time like the Ducks did constantly adding quality NHlers with later picks.

You can't look at it that way. The draft is really just a crap shoot. You can take a guy with all the tools and he sucks or take a guy with holes and he suddenly puts it together. Rangers are well on their way to filling a top prospect pool and as long as you can get some NHLers out of your picks, you have done great. That's the reality of the draft.
