I don't get the love with Tryamkin, Yes he has good size and some nice attributes. But the fact is he has huge flaws in his game and has been passed over in draft twice.

Being 6'7 doesn't mean that he is next Chara.

Of course it doesn't mean he's the next Chara. But being 6'7 and having a couple of nice attributes is enough for a team to use a late round pick on him and hope the flaws are fixable. I mean isn't that the definition of a late round pick - find something that is good and hope the rest is fixable? It makes more sense to me to do that than pick a guy who is average at everything.

Sat on the third row from the glass during the Bronze Medal game, sitting that close to the ice gives a whole different perspective of just how enormous guys like Tryamkin and Zadorov are. The kids are absolute mountains.

Would like to see the Habs use a late rounder on Tryamkin, we could really use some more big defensemen in our prospect pool.

What's the story with this guy? Not willing to come over? You would think a team like the Bruins or Kings would at least use a mid to late round pick on the guy.

His team is one of the very poorest in the KHL so it is pretty much a certainty that he will be moving somewhere if his development pans out. If he gets drafted by a team that's really committed to bringing him over it may as well be to the NHL.

Could be worth a late pick. Look at a guy like Sustr. Undrafted out of college, passed over for similar reasons. Now he's a staple on the Bolts' blueline.

Any chance this guy get pick this year? He had a little bit more exposure this year with his WJC20 tournament

Don't think he's good enough. Big but plays like a pudy cat and was a defensive liability at times. If your big, you better be mean and rock solid in your own end. Red wings were curious about a similar player, even bigger -http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=106526 didn't work out

Good pick for Vancouver, they need size on the back end in their prospect pool. I hate the Canucks, but I love a lot of their scouting decisions over the last three years or so, and am vicariously excited for their fans. Along with relatively safe picks like Virtanen and McCann, a high upside guy like Tryamkin makes a lot of sense to me. Is a culture change occurring under Linden? If they focus on drafting local guys, two-way Canadians, and high-risk high-reward Europeans, it would be hard not to like this team on at least some level. Congrats Nucks fans.

Not surprised you hate the Canucks, you have a Bettman avatar. lol im just kidding I understand if your a Blackhawk fan or from Alberta or any sort of rival.

Anyways I am glad we got him. He has a great reach and can make defensive plays. He can also box players out of the crease and give the guy making a screen a really hard time. His puck handling and movement is not bad either.

I think what he needs to work on is his shot and possibly being a bit more effective offensively. But anyways I think he is going to play another year of KHL and then I would let him play in the AHL for a good few years and then hopefully he gets developed well and adjusts to the NA game of hockey.

If all goes well in Utica I cannot wait to see what this kid brings. I know he might not be like Chara but I think he will be good physically and will do fine defensively and make good passes.

Give him 1 more year of KHL and then maybe 2 or 3 years of AHL.

Here is a video of him in the IIHF WJC U20. He did pretty well.

EDIT:

He did pretty well at slowing down some Canadian players. Poke checks Drouin and he makes Mantha lose the puck and knocks him down. I hope he turns out to be a good player.

Moves really well for his size, hopefully he can improve his physicality a bit.

How would Russian KHL watches rank Tryamkin vs Paigin. Both seem pretty similar

Benning had a Canucks townhall meeting with the fans today and confirmed he's going to sign him and bring him over this month.

"En route" is not the same thing as the Canucks intending to sign.

He was going to trade Hamhuis too.

I don't watch the KHL by any means but Paigin seems more offensive and Tryamkin seems more defence first oriented, but both are very good skaters.

Doesn't make sense. Tryamkin is all about defence, while Paigin is a typical offensive defenceman with some weaknesses on the defensive side.

I'd say Tryamkin doesn't look as good defensively as Paigin offensively.

Defencemen take longer to learn the D. Question is: will Paigin learn enough of it in due time? And will Trymkin learn it good enough to be a DD mainstay? Time will tell as always.

Nikita has signed a two year elc. He's arriving in vancouver tonight and will skate tomorrow. Will practice with the team for a week then get in game action. Hope it's next Wednesday as i have tickets!

There is no way Tryamkin is ready for the NHL. Just no way. He might get a few games but no way he stays for much longer. Unless Canucks want to tank as hard as possible.

How can you be so absolute in your statement? He's been playing top minutes on his team in the KHL against men, to suggest in absolutes that he's not ready for the NHL is a stretch. He could light up the league just as much as he could fail. Personally I think he'll stand out on the Canucks blue line but that's not saying much.
