Now I know why Ottawa along with some other teams don't draft Russian Players.

This sucks.

I don't blame him though, if the guy is good but is being mismanaged and they have other options, they should use those options. He can play more in the KHL wait for his rights to expire then comeback later on if he chooses, all the time making more money and playing more.

Its not his fault that Desjardin didn't deploy him more, he was a pretty solid defender.

it's disgusting how kuch got bent over a barrel with his contract, for example. so it is always good for a player not to be shackled to an nhl team and have some other options available. i won't begrudge him his decision and wish him good luck with his new team.

He has a while to wait.

According to twitter it is 2023 till they expire.

Heh maybe the team coach is changed before then or his rights get traded then.

Either way, I don't begrudge them of using this option. Imagine being tied to an employer in the normal world with no recourse.

They already did change the coach. Desjardins has been fired, which means the guy Tryamkin apparently had an issue with is gone.

It was purely for family and personal comfort reasons. The ice time thing is just an excuse, he knows he would be played more this coming season. He just misses his new wife and family and loves the comfort of being home. Its simple. Have none of you guys ever felt that way?

Seems like he didnt like NA that much and Canucks were kind of a tire fire developmentally. Either jerking him around or just asking weird things from him. I get hes like 6'16 451 pounds but you have to let a young player ease into the league. Not try to turn him to pronger due to size

He was turning out pretty well. This kind of came out of left field

Yes, they are so savvy about it they traded the pick that become Tarasenko.

Obviously drafting Russians that are anything but potential stars is risky.

Outside of the elite players, I don't know why Russians even bother coming to North America. Many of them toil in the minors, some make the NHL but earn minimums.

I look at a guy like Tolchinsky and I have to wonder if there's something wrong with his head.

And living in many North American cities is now expensive. Either that or you'll end up in some horrible tax break heaven like Nevada or Arizona. But if you're good enough for the NHL, you'll live like a king in Russia, at home, where your family is.

They don't. Majority of 2nd tier Russian players are in KHL.

Just guys like Kulemin and Namestnikov are left.

Mentality of playing in the bets league in the world and having chance to be a top tier player in the game of hockey. Good/great players in KHL will always have giant asterisk beside their name because they played in KHL, not NHL. For example Barker is/was one of best D in KHL, couldnt even crack the NHL

I also have a pretty good feeling the KHL is super corrupt an this could play a big role in why so many russians have left or are leaving.

The KHL is bleeding a slow death, but wont be too long before they lack any true top young talent. Guys like Zaitev/Panarin- born and raised KHL players are leaving. This season probably Shipechev/Dadonov (sp). The KHL will be left with washed up Russians and average North American players who couldnt make NHL

This is why I was glad we stayed away from Russian players for so long.

Lesson learned I hope.

Lmao the Canucks had a rare good draft pick in a later round, likely screwed him around here, and now hes going home. He could have turned out pretty well if he was handled properly

This mentality is the reason teams can scoop up good Russians in later rounds.

Since Tryamkin has already graduated from being a prospect, I will close this thread.
