Luke and Nemec on the same blue line

Hughes’ defensive side of the game so far during the August WJC already looks improved from last year. 8 days away from being in this recent past draft …. I honestly think he will be better than Quinn and I think Quinn is a stud …. Hughes Nemec pairing….
Devils need to hire the best strength and conditioning coaches available ,train the two of them up so they can each play 30 minutes a game lol.
Only better duo on D will be Makar and Bryam.

Even if he’s not ready though? Luke is tall and skinny. He’s got a lot more physical maturing to fill out his frame than his older brothers did. I guess he could sign, come out early, and then the club sends him to the minors to develop.
He’s built his frame a lot it would seem. However, his ability to avoid contact utilizing his edgework and quick puck moving is excellent.

He’s never going to be a physical defenseman anyways. His stick work, skating, and quick thinking are going to allow him to avoid contact. Even along the boards he’s able to make smart plays while evading forcheckers.

I think he’s ready for the NHL right now.

I want to see him use that 6’2” a bit more. The way he skates and his reach I get why he relies a lot on stick work, but he needs to round out his game with some physicality.
Lol... easy there. He's a 185! (the same weight as the 5'11" Makar) You throw around your weight not your height. Another year of college and weight training will help.

Jack & Quinn Both had big years this past season but Luke has been playing amazing since we drafted him. He has potential to be the best of the 3 IMO. I'm glad we have 2 of the 3 Brothers in the Devils organization and I'm looking forward to seeing Luke play in the NHL. I really didn't know much about him going into the 2021 Draft and thought he might he a tad bit overrated because of his last name. It's not a given he will be better than all of the players thane right after him because there are some really damn good prospects that were taken after him. He has been playing lights out since we took him , I'm happy with this pick so far 😀

I think Seider and Edvinsson will not only be a hugely talented duo, but... huge. I'll take them over Nemec and Hughes all day long.

I also take the Wings duo but f***ing lol at using mUh SiZe as a reason
You ever been on the ice with a guy even close to that size, who skates like the wind and has a giant wingspan to boot? Dismissing size as an asset is not wise. It's not like Edvinsson is some giant bumbling fool out there....quite to the contrary.

Both LHD. I could be wrong, but I'll take Seider and Edvinsson as a pair, though it can be argued that Makar and some guy off the street is the right pick.

Theoretically they could play together since Dahlin was playing some RD with Samuelsson already, but ya I think our plan will be to have them anchor their own pair.

Seider has already established himself, so it’s hard to argue against him. But I’ll take both Hughes and Nemec over Edvinsson. We’ll see.

Right now I would take seider edviddson just cause seider is proven but this can change. Either way all four are great talents. Not sure I see NJ marching Hughes and nemec consistently tho

Siegenthaler could be a perfect partner for Nemec but if Hamilton stays until their primes I wouldn't want Hughes and Hamilton as the top pairing, especially if the Devils can't fix their goaltending

Who cares what duo is marginally better at this stage. I'm happy with the defensmen with the highest ceiling out of any prospect right now and another who broke all analytic models. Defense won't be the reason keeping NJ from contending for a cup each year.

At this point ,I would not complain about any of these up and coming studs. Id say these are all franchise altering and too close to call for now (except maybe Makar and Byram / Toews
Makar Byram
Power Dahlin
Seider Edvinsson
Hughes Nemec
Sanderson Chabot

I don’t know about best tandem in the game but it certainly has potential to be up there. Hughes has looked better defensively this tournament as well and has improved his gap control. I think the true test will be when he plays some stronger opponents.

Was it ever disclosed what he injured? It looked like an ankle . Hope it’s not his knee or an injury that will effect his skating ability at all in the future.
Im still pissed how poorly USA trainers did with him. They all just essentially stood there ,mouth breathing while watching him struggle to even get off the ice... Kid had a hard time getting off the ice and they just watched him struggle to hop the boards.… open the F ing gate for him and maybe , just maybe , ask him and look at his injury ? What a joke.
