Dont kid yourself, we only drafted him because his last name is Hughes ;)

Always such a stupid assertion from the start. It probably helped a little, but he belonged in that range. Those who claim he was picked there only because his name is Hughes conveniently ignore that part.

He should stay two years though. Jersey shouldn’t rush him. They should use the Sanderson blueprint.

He’s not as skilled as his brothers, but very few are. He’s still good enough to eventually score 40-50 points in the NHL. He’s bigger and better defensively for his position than Quinn and Jack, although his style of play is currently more rover than anything else. He should eventually though be a two-way defensemen due to his sense, size, and skating. The comparable is a Thomas Chabot.

Chabot’s awful defensively and an elite offensive driver. He’s not a two way D

He is a slice behind Quinn but he also is 6’2”. The way he moves and takes open ice, even creates it, in a guy who is not NHL small is top notch.

Nice to see Luke throwing a big hit. It will take a while for him to fill out enough to be able to do that in teh NHL but hopefully he will get big enough .
I wonder what he is right ow for height and weight? Hopefully he can squeeze out another inch from his draft height lol .

About as obvious a case of advanced stats not matching up to the eye test as you'll get.

Fancy stats still have a long way to go apparently.
You realize whatever biases or flaws that are present in advanced stats pale in comparison to the subjectivity of the "eye test" right?

Almost no different than saying "because I say so" in an argument.

Chabot is definitely not awful defensively. He did have struggles last season when he was getting overplayed and paired up with Zaitsev who's a bottom-pairing defenceman. He's playing with more competent partners this season and his two-way game has really blossomed, even with crazy minutes.

I've learned enough about advanced stats over the years to know they are correct on average, but miss the mark in certain cases.

This is one of them. Chabot has been very good defensively this year. It's his offensive game that has been a bit disappointing.

He has 7g now , good for 3rd on the team. 7 goals 8 assists with only 2 secondary assists and only 3 PP pts.
Playing on the second pair , but only because Power is on the first pair on the right side.
He is doing very well considering missing a large chunk of last year . That and him being less than a week away from being eligible for the 2022 draft… kid is doing very good.
I know it’s too early but I’m hoping he is going to be better than Quinn. Juke has a very high ceiling and his elite skating hopefully enables him to be effective defensively as well.

How about you finally realize the eye test is more fallible than tracked data

Good thing that people that actually make these kind of decisions watch the actual sport that these guys are playing. Good grief, did you see what happened with Chayka and all the other analytically driven clowns?

A little ironic to have the analytics nerds trolling in the one place above all others where analytics count for squat, the prospects forum.
