Any team would be ecstatic to get Morgan Rielly 3rd overall if that was a guaranteed floor and ceiling.
Oh absolutely, but each draft class is different and this class is much deeper than the awfulness of 2012. Hughes, Kakko, and Turcotte should all go before him; then that's where it goes off to different directions. I personally have Byram at 5th tied with Podkolzin right behind Cozens at 4th who has made me a believer of him.

This might sound stupid but the Avs might want to pick #3 or later, I feel like Byram would mesh a lot better than Hughes of Kakko.

You're right.

Our second line is a gaping hole right now, Hughes or Kakko wouldn't need to mesh with anything.

After Hughes and Kakko itll be interesting to see who goes where. It seems like its Turcotte and 3 WHLers. Itll be interesting to see what order the WHLers go in, they should be fairly easy to scout comparatively because theyre playing in the same league. How would you rank them right now SEPH? Cozens, Byram, Dach? How close are they to each other for you?

1. Hughes
2. Kakko
3. Turcotte
4. Cozens
5. Podkolzin/Byram (Pod having the ability to pull a Kuznestov and stay longer probably puts Byram ahead of him)

Then currently I have...
- Krebs
- Dach
- Thomson
- J. Williams
- Foote

In that order. Josh Williams might be a tad high, but I love his game. Hamaliuk, Korczak, Wolf, and Toporowski are also really solid players. Only person I really dislike from the Dub this year is Robertson. If I was club, I would much rather grab Bolduc in the 4th or 5th round than waste a 1st or 2nd round on Robertson.

I should've mentioned Krebs I forgot about him. How far apart would you have Cozens from Krebs? And how far behind Cozens is Byram for you?

Everyone in the top 10 is super close regardless of leagues besides the top 2-3. I think the top 2 with Hughes/Kakko separated themselves quite a bit from 3rd and Turcotte coming back with vengeance has really separated himself from the rest of the pack. However, 3rd is closer to 4th than 2nd is to 3rd.

Cozens and Byram are ultra close, but I have Cozens ahead due to the issues I've already discussed about Byram and that I buy Cozens as a centre long term. Even though everyone is very close, I do think there is a bit of cushion between Cozens and Byram to the rest of the pack currently. Kerbs has passed Dach for me because Dach is still figuring out his game and not sure I see him as a centre long term. Kerbs brings a consistent game night in and night out and has shown to be very productive even if he's out on the wing on a very terrible team.

Kind of off the board with Thomson, Williams, and Foote in the top-10, at least compared to McKenzie's mid-season list.

If that's a WHL only list mine currently is.

Bowen Byram
Dylan Cozens
Peyton Krebs
Kirby Dach
Brett Leason
Brayden Tracey
Lassi Thomson
Nolan Foote
Sasha Mutala
Luka Burzan
Matt Robertson
Dustin Wolf
Mads Søgaard
Kyle Topping
Luke Toporowski
Dillon Hamaliuk
Kaeden Korczak
Reece Newkirk
Logan Barlage
Jake Lee
Mark Kastelic
Josh Williams

I know it’s not all about points but you seriously can’t have Williams in the first round.

Byrams sitting at #4 for me rn. Ahead of Dach but behind Hughes/Kakko and Turcotte.

Oil need an elite 4th forward but a Byram - Bouchard top pairing for the future would be incredible.

Wow, what’s got you guys so down on Robertson?

I’m sure I haven’t watched him as much as you two, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen. Smooth skater, good size (could use it more, but that’s teachable), good defensive instincts, comfortable with the puck, good at getting the shot through. I did have higher hopes/expectations at the start of the season, but he’s done enough to justify a reasonable projection as a middle-pairing two-way all-around type at the next level. He’s not really lacking anything, and I was of the opinion he will go between 15-25 at the draft. What am I missing??

Between cozens and byram, who would u say is the more cerebral/smarter player?
