At the orthopedist. So far a 90 minute wait for the doctor. I am beyond pissed off
Finally got to see the doctor. Verdict: arthritis in both hips. One has no cartilage left and the other one only has like 10%.
It gets better: I have to lose 20 pounds before he will do it.
He recommended intermittent fasting. I’m going to look into it.

i go to market basket every time i’m home i like ralphs but it’s not even close. you’re right about visiting though especially after the pandemic and most of the places and bars i went to closed. I basically sit around doing nothing.Home is home and I feel comfy there but also don't want to become a townie which is a lot of the reason that propelled me to move in the first place.
Whenever I'm home my mom always gets all doting like "is there anything you want to do, anywhere you want to go while you're here?" and then I realize that no, there's actually nothing to do there and I'm happy to just hang out and watch cable tv in their condo and go to the restaurant down the road. Taking a walk down the trail by their place suffices for nature, I don't care about apple picking or anything like that. We could drive over to Rye Beach but it's usually mid-November when I'm back in New England so usually not even worth going to the beach.
The one thing that always gets me every single time and one place that I actually legitimately do want to go out of my way to go to: Market Basket. The week before I visit my parents ask what they should buy to have in the house when I'm there and I deliberately say nothing because I want to go to Market Basket and shop the first day I'm there.
Not even joking. It just hits different than any other supermarket anywhere in the world. I get some weird sense of inner peace and nostalgia high when I walk into the store.
dudes, townie is a mindset, not a location
I know it sounds gimmicky Beth but I've had good results with it

As long as it works, I'm down with it.

Trick with market basket (i just try to avoid crowds), is going on a weekday, preferably early in the AM.
I like Ralphs because they have a good discounted items rack, and if you can get there during the daytime on a weekday when they put out the discounted meat you can get great deals. But the rest of the store is just generic kroger brand stuff.i go to market basket every time i’m home i like ralphs but it’s not even close. you’re right about visiting though especially after the pandemic and most of the places and bars i went to closed. my wife and i joke about moving back to a simpler life because 9 months of the year are unbearable and you sit inside go to market basket then watch whatever games on. here we feel pressure to go out and do stuff because the weathers nice and that’s what you’re trained to do in new england. problem is it’s nice 95% of the time and people aren’t seditary
As someone who was supposed to have new hips by 45, I sympathize. Hang in there. Finally got to see the doctor. Verdict: arthritis in both hips. One has no cartilage left and the other one only has like 10%.

Enjoy! Florence? Venice? Milano?I’m in Italy for my wife and my first vacation (not weekend away) without the kids ever.
In Rome now (since Tuesday) and heading to Sorrento tomorrow.
Obviously an amazing city, but I’m looking forward to the, hopefully, more relaxing coastal part of the trip.
We‘ve walked at least 15 miles since Tuesday….luckily the heat wave ended and it’s been a bearable 85-90 degrees this week with reasonable humidity.
Does he want to do a full replacement? Let me know if you have any questions! Finally got to see the doctor. Verdict: arthritis in both hips. One has no cartilage left and the other one only has like 10%.

If I were retired I'd just split the year spring & fall in New England and summer & winter in California.
But yeah, there's more to do here but sometimes I don't want to do anything. Every time there's a three day weekend people are pushing me to do something - let's go to Palm Springs, let's go to the beahc, let's go to Big Bear, etc. And then Monday or Tuesday morning you go back to work but you're more tired than you were before because everyone has to "do something" on their long weekend and you realize you're not getting another day off until Labor Day. I just want to stay home and do nothing and rest/recharge. You rarely have that problem in New England, I find. Especially between October and April.
One off my biggest pet peeves with the medical profession. At the orthopedist. So far a 90 minute wait for the doctor. I am beyond pissed off
Thanks Ladyfan!Does he want to do a full replacement? Let me know if you have any questions!
I just hit week 5 for the left hip replacement. I have arthritis in the other too plus the SI joints (cannot do anything for this) and back.
Amazing! Enjoy every moment, Sarge!I’m in Italy for my wife and my first vacation (not weekend away) without the kids ever.

I go to Market Basket because you can't beat the prices. But the crowd makes the Wal Mart crowd look like a Mensa meeting.Trick with market basket (i just try to avoid crowds), is going on a weekday, preferably early in the AM.
Some go home the day of the surgery. I have 2 flights of stairs, so I stayed one night. I lost a bit more than normal blood so when they came in to get me up that night I almost passed out. I went home then next day. Thanks Ladyfan!
How long after the surgery were you in the hospital?
Yes it would be a full replacement, he showed me a model.
