I remember when sens fans and Canucks haters would try to argue that lazar > horvat With that said Canucks offer granlund, he's a center but is terrible at face offs so you'd be better to use him on the wing

Done deal for me. Lazar is a fantastic person, but a pretty unfantastic hockey player.

I'd roll the dice with Yakupov and hope he nails it in Ottawa

I doubt the Oiler's do Yakupov for Lazar straight up. I think both still have significant upside.

Regardless. Lazar is still super young. Sens fans that are critical want to rip him apart and criticize the team for mismanaging his development. I still like Lazar and think he has a lot of upside. I think he can be a 30-40 pt, middle 6 winger or Centre. As soon as this year or next. After that.... Maybe he further develops or not.

What is the point of Ottawa dealing Lazar right now? His value has dropped from a league wide standpoint but his bust potential has also dropped too (already a solid defensive 3rd liner). Due to this Ottawa gets absolutely no benefit from dealing him unless someone crazy overpays so we might as well keep him and see if he discovers his offensive game since worst case he is a 3rd liner which isn't bad at all

I think you might be overrating Miller just a teeny tiny bit

We have no reason to move him.

This isn't some veteran we're looking to get rid of or someone with a bad contract.

OP asked for an under-23 winger. Miller's ours. He's already a 40 point player at 23. He could easily take that next step and be a 50-60 point player.

That would be the price, at minimum, if we're sending JT Miller to OTT.

I don't see either team being thrilled with it, but that's the price IMO.

I'd do Lazar for Yak in a heartbeat.

I don't think the rest of HF realizes how bad Lazar is.

He's 21... not everyone lights up a league full of men in their first two seasons.

Lazar tops out as a 35-40 point player IMO but that's still a very good third line / borderline 2nd line player...

Which roster winger 23 or younger, would you be willing to part with for Curtis Lazar?

Not looking for spare parts, but one roster player (or really good AHL:er kept off the roster due to quality and quantity up front).

leafs offer up brendan leipsic. 54pts in 65 games in the AHL as a 21 year old, looks to be a 3rd line version of gallagher/marchand

I'm gonna..
I like the Lazar <--> Yakupov deal. Really does make sense. Lazar is probably going to be more of a bottom 6 type guy and Yakupov is pretty much top 6 or bust. May find his game in Ottawa, who knows. Lazar could be a key role player for Edmonton down the line.
