Well, it didn't mean that Gaborik was signing here when he was looking at buying so I don't think the situation above is indicative of anything other than wanting to get a new house.

I agree that it probably means nothing, but with what has happened in the past couple of days I wouldn't be surprised by anything

That's fair enough. I can't say I disagree.

Maybe. Doubtful with 2 years on the clock a new house is on the cards.

Just because they only have 2 years left doesn't mean that they don't want a home in the city he's lived in the past 15 years of his life. Even if they retire their kids have been raised mostly in Vancouver, who's to say that even in the off chance they are moved they don't want their houses here?

If there is proof of Hank selling too then by all means I could see the panic. We all know they go together.

Realistically what could BENNING return the for the Sedins? If we are rebuilding he may aswell rebuild and trade them.. Re-sign them in 2 years for a final 2 year contract.. Win the Stanley Cup!!! Plan the parade Trevor has a vision!

I miss Gillis

Gillis? I'm getting all nostalgic for Dave Nonis. He did very little but that's better than making brain dead deals like Kassian for a broken down 4th liner and having to add a pick.

Who the F*** fires the ******* trainer? especially one that's been in the organization for years and is known as one of the best in the business. These moves are getting more insane by the day.

Best thing that can happen now is the player revolt and basically throw the season to get these morons fired.

I actually always like Burkie and Nonis.. I liked Gillis too.. Benning is the first GM since Mike Keenan who i despise.. Even Keenan made good hockey trades though

Honestly tho, trading the sedins would be best case scenario.

At worst benning would get a few 1sts, some prospects, and a few 2nds.

Also we would be so bad, we would pick top 5 for like 3 years in a row.

No at worst we'll trade the Sedins away for no return and turn into the Oilers for the next decade...

lol wut.

We get nowhere near that and then we will have to hear about how bad their contracts are (overpaid, too long), that they are swedish and thus a flight risk, too old, share a bunk, etc etc to justify the low return.

Of course this will only come from someone in management and of course we will hear how they tried to accommodate the Sedins for the last year but no one would take them.b

Have you seen any of Benning's moves recently? Not sure how you feel confident in getting that kind of a return with this management. You have to consider that it will be $14 million in cap space for that team to absorb, and they will hit that point home with Benning until he buckles. I have no faith in getting a 1st, 2nd, and a good prospect in return per Sedin with the trades I have seen.

The only way would be if we retained significant salary, but that's not happening with this organization.

Pat O'Neill? Roger Takahashi?

True, good finds. We can start thanking them for their service as well.

Or they'd do it for Lucic, Dustin Brown, and Richards' buyout or something.

I've always believed that Benning and Linden were the guys that were going to be tasked with tearing the team down. When the team starts to brim over with young players someone else will be brought in to build a contender. Probably in three or four years. It's going to be rough but I'm also glad they're getting on with the rebuild instead of dragging it out.

The returns they have been getting have been disappointing but not out of this world bad. They haven't "won" a trade yet. They've been getting 3rds when they should have got 2nds and stuff like that. Would it be better to put off the rebuild for another year if it meant the picks you get back are slightly better?

What possibly could be legitimate justification for firing Burnstein? He's not management, it's like firing the janitor when you change CEOs.

Are they just trying to alienate the remaining core to the point of asking for a trade?

Why does it even matter? Who gives a flyin flug? Maybe they feel a new approach to deal with injuries is in everyone's best interest?

WTF they let Mike Bernstein go?

WHAT THE ACTUAL **** is going on. They are just GUTTING this franchise.

Firing Mike Burnstein seems ridiculous and a sure fire way to upset the players.

Well if Botchford is to be believed, the core players are already a bit upset. So this will push that along.

Overall, I think firing Burnstein is not that big a deal to the general workings of the club. He was a constant, yes. And he was regarded as one of the best in the business, but they might have a better alternative in mind...?

The article seems to imply Burnstein's responsibilities will be absorbed by the remainder of the staff.
