I doubt he will want to sign this summer. You never know I guess but realistically he will probably want to atleast back up a strong rookie season with a good start to next season.
Not sure if it’s shrewd, most good NCAA guys coming out, get that deal.he and his agent are pretty shrewd, look at how they burned a year off his elc. i think he's going to bet on himself and wait until his current deal is over to negotiate. with two strong seasons, a good agent and being a fan favorite in montreal i think he's going to get paid.
Yep. Nothing special about that. Faber, Sanderson, Power, Beniers, anyone who is good will burn the year. Even later round picks like Terry did as well. Not sure if it’s shrewd, most good NCAA guys coming out, get that deal.
That contract would age very well with a rising cap7.5 for 8 yr would be great for the Habs.
Why bridge him if the managements mentality has been lock in long term. And we don’t have one D signed max. Let alone the first D in ten years who pullsI would bridge him honestly if he wants more than 7, MTL already has most of their core locked into decent deals so I don't think it's worth the risk going long term with Hutson
a probable Calder finalist, possible winner, proving himself even more next season, on top of the cap going up around $8M by 26-27.... hes getting closer to $10M than $8M x 8no bridge needed for him, lock him up 8 years for anything below 8.5M, ideally 8M
Kind of early isn't it?Since Lane Hutson burned a year of his ELC playing 2 games at the end of last season, he will be entering the last year of his contract in 2025-2026 and will be able to sign a contract extension on July 1st.
I am convinced Habs management is smart and will sign him right away to the big bucks if, of course, Lane Hutson is interested to do so at that time.
If he keeps his play at this current level, what should that contract look like?
My guess is 8y x 7.5 millions... Too much? Not enough? What do you guys think?
Not really.Kind of early isn't it?
The other side of the coin: a guaranteed $60M versus $12M and the risk of a serious injury...Takes two to tango. Signing as soon as he’s eligible does the Habs a favour but does himself a disservice. He could be looking for a bridge deal to improve himself further and command more money when the time is up. We won’t know what his preference is until contract talks start heating up.
Also known as "I'm right, you're wrong".If you’re answering “yes” to that question, you just can’t be taken seriously.
the risk goes both ways. if he gets offered a contract in the sanderson/faber mold he would sign it. 60+ million guaranteed money is a lot and none of us would turn it down because 12m sounds fine we MAYBE can make good on it on a second contract.I doubt he will want to sign this summer. You never know I guess but realistically he will probably want to atleast back up a strong rookie season with a good start to next season.
agents don't use cap hit. they use cap percentage. The market is fairly consistent, 8M give or take a few hundred k in either direction.
It just comes down to whether the Canadiens are able to enforce Suzuki's cap hit as their ceiling, or whether he exceeds it.
The takes on HF at times can be hilarious.............the hate can flow at times for sure.According to HF he sucks so he should expect league minimum or being cut from the team
But according to HFHabs he is.. what, then?According to HF he sucks so he should expect league minimum or being cut from the team
