Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

No, your comment was clearly an attempt at exaggerating Subban’s problematic aspects and diminishing Subban’s reputation as a top player, hence: “false equivalence”.
That’s just you choosing to interpret things that way because you had a preconceived narrative that you wanted to rant about.

Read the very next post I made in the thread. It was also about Subban. That provides the context that shows your assertion here is complete BS. Like I said, you’re the one making “false equivalences” and assumptions.

You can disagree with or debate what someone said, but you don’t get to put words in their mouth or decide what they are saying for yourself, especially when the other person tried to clarify things for you. Get over yourself, dude.

Most spectacular habs players in my lifetime

Born in 75 so I remember Lafleur in early 80s so:

In order

Stephane Richer
Alex Kovalev
Lane a Hutson
P.k Subban

When he was on.... Richer was so lethal. Unfortunately it seems that people remember just his shot but how many time Richer carried the puck end to end beating 3 or 4 players..

Kovalev was so smooth with one of the best hands in history.

His charisma on the ice was unmatched except of Lafleur.

I talked to him many times and his prestance and charisma off the ice was unbelievable. He was a lot bigger off the ice than he looked on the ice. The dude was huge.

Richer either.

Today Richer is maybe at 6.2 255 pounds....so big and not a lot of fat even today....those who have seen him in person knows what I talking about.

More love for Suzuki please.

Did you miss the wraparound goal yesterday?

Suzuki is so smart and efficient that he doesn’t dazzle he just impresses

It’s like rocking at a metal concert vs the satisfaction of hearing a well performed jazz or orchestral show. Both pleasant experiences but they come from different angles.

He’s already better than Subban, I was and am a huge Subban fan. Subby was a bigger goal scoring threat, but I can see Lane locking in at 15goals per season for the next decade or so.

He’s such a prolific playmaker that even without a howitzer of a shot his deception and ability to make plays will keep goalies off balance enough to score 12-15 per year. He has a decent shot anyway, but he prefer to look the d/forward off and dish. You can’t read Lane, unpredictability is what makes him so effective.
At the same age, it’s a no brainer.

Is he better than peak PK…? Honestly, I think he maybe still. I think it’s close at least. Hutson seems to impose his will more.

I always liked Subban but he was never on this level. Hutson is going into this new category of dominant point per game defenseman, the Makar, Hughes category.

He had his adjustment period at the start of the season, now he's killing it.

He's already a legit point per game producer, with this lineup. He can be more when there's more than 1 scoring line.
Revisionism.

Subban was the best defender on the planet from 13 to 15 and was completely insane as a player. Lane isnt there yet.

I felt later in his career subbans biggest strength was as a shutdown/pk guy.

He was a game breaker early in his career but not nearly at the level lane is today.

I actually don't think pk was able to evolve, and it shortened his shelf life quite a bit.

From my time watching this franchise, I feel like andrei markov was the best all around dman I have seen, and PK was the most exciting. But what lane is doing as a rookie is just beyond words for me.

No, come on. Were getting ahead of ourselves.

I agree. He isn't there overall quite yet.

Subban won his Norris in his D+6 year. I guarantee Hutson will be in a complete different league than Subban at the same time in his career during the 2027-28 season. It'll be night and day, like he's playing a different game altogether

This Hutson kid man, with that apple ties Chelios for 6th in rookie D points. 1 away from my all time fave D Ray Bourque and 2 apples from the rookie record.

4 more points until 3rd all time, and I know it'll never happen but 7 points until 2nd all time rookie D points and 12 until 1st. 5.33 games left 😬.

What a show this kid has put this year.

He's also 1 ES point away from Murphy's record of 40.

Imagine that, Huston can now beat Chelios record on Tuesday's game against the Wings where Chelios has played 9 seasons and won 2 cups.

Chelios must be there Tuesday, C'Mon!!!

This is written!
