It's clearly the case that Hutson is an excellent Calder candidate.

But so is Celebrini.

This will be a long race going down to the wire in my opinion.
If he can keep within a few points over/under of Celebrini as a D he’d have to win though right?

Either way, I don’t care. He’s a top 5 player in the league level talent and he’s ours. Thank f***

I agreed here. Hutson has transformed the Habs in good way. Calder is just a bonus.

I have his endocrinologist's newest report that Lane will hit 5'10 exact by his 35th birthday
No. He will be 6'5.

I was among the people who were skeptical of Hutson last year. I could see that he pulverized the NCAA, but I also knew that he was small, frail, and had trouble skating backwards.

On the bright side I was not too loud in my skepticism.

Learning lesson? A combination of high IQ, determination, and not getting injured should not be underestimated.

Definitely not frail. He was a stump last year too. I and maybe a few others tried to tell people he was very strong for his size.

The backwards skating thing wasn’t pretty and that was gonna be a hurdle

On my mock draft list, I had Lane Hutson over Filip Mesar on the first round. I would like to send my curiculum vitae to the organization haha. But honestly, they were a lot of poster high on him on our board which influence on a right way my point of view. I think the organization should read some posters here
I'm almost ashamed to say I ONLY had him 10th overall predraft lmao

It's reasonable to be conservative with future hype on a small player. Sometimes you can get gullible and look very bad later on and in rare cases like Hutson, you are right.

Same thing we went through with Caufield.

My biggest surprise with Hutson isn't the points or the shiftiness with the puck, its the tenacity with which he plays without the puck. As a few others have described...he is a DAWG. He plays like younger Gally when he doesn't have the puck. An absolute pest with an endless motor.

Yeah, his hockey IQ and engagement is top notch. It's impressive to see for a guy his size at such a young age. He's creating a lot of disruption for the other teams forecheck and it's suppose to be the other way around

He’s short, small, avg speed, no power in his shot… goes to show how valuable elite hunger + elite hockey IQ can compensate for lack of physical tools

Yeah, he's just got that "IT" factor and the IQ/Skill to support the energy he puts into every shift. Guys like this have been surviving against bigger players their entire career.

Rankings among NHL defensemen:

-Ranked 7th in assists
-Ranked 8th in PTS
-Ranked 6th at PP assists
-Ranked 7th at PP points

Ice Time would be another one to add?

He is absolutely brutal and seems to think he possesses knowledge beyond that of a mortal hockey fan

I just saw a post from him where, I kid you not, he ranked Hutson below Jonathan Kovacevic.

Again, I am not making this is up, this is something he actually said.

He said if Hutson were on the Devils, he would be their #6 defenseman.

In the same post - and again, I am not joking, this is directly what he said - he ranked the following defenseman ahead of Hutson:

Romanov, Ristalainen, Provorov, Gostisbhere, Burns, Van Riemsdyk, Sandin.

You can't make this shit up. This guy expects us to believe he's not trolling and he truly thinks that Rasmus Sandin and Jonathan Kovacevici, among others, would slot in ahead of Hutson. This is guy who speaks atuthroatively on Hutson, but that's his take.

I think there's a pretty good chance he got kicked in the head by a mule as a child.

Maybe, but it’s just speculation.

Regardless, he was lower on their board than Mesar and Beck.
Yup
Lucky/fluke he was still there at 62

You gotta check out the Jack Evans thread on the Trade Rumours Board.

DGibb10, who seems to spend the bulk of his time pouring of spreadsheets trying to diminish players who aren't New Jersey Devils (you gotta see his hilarious nonsense in the Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Thread) actually tried to claim that the Canadiens "arguably" lost the Brett Kulak trade.

I'm not kidding. He really did just say this!
He’s a clown. Pay him no mind
