Late in the game, he got some great opportunities to shoot and would instead try other things, because he clearly isn't confident he can score this way.

He will. MSL doesn't understand game management and will overuse Hutson until he cracks.

Exactly. Overusing Hutson at this stage of his carreer is indecent and dangerous for him. Time for Hughes to put his pants on and send down Xhekaj to Laval, Barron on trade block, and recall Lindstrom and Mailloux. + Struble in the lineup of course.

MSL would need some time in the AHL himself…….

You might be joking, but I was watching the Oilers game last night and, it might sound crazy, but I do see some McDavid in the way Hutson plays. Of course he's a lot less explosive, but the shiftiness, stick handling, the head always up and vison are kinda McDavid like imo

He plays the same way. Like you said, less explosive but very similar style and seemingly no off switch.

I wouldn't call these moves putting his pants on, but rather putting a dunce hat on his head and being a complete bozo.

He wasn't immune to the sloppy play today. A surprising number of his passes were off target and hit skates etc. but despite that he was still very good. If that's a bad game for Hutson, awesome

They need to practice receiving his passes and finishing the plays he creates. I wouldn't call it predictable but he clearly has an approach that the team should help communicate.

7 minutes gap is scary. I understand we were chasing Kings for almost 2 periods without Matheson, but we need to balance the usage. Barron looked OK, both Guhle and Xhekaj can also support offense. Looks like Robidas/MSL are one-trick ponny, overusing their top defenseman whether that is Matheson or Hutson.
