Demidov is a HAB
These are my concerns as well, especially seeing as this is training camp and not games down the stretch with players fighting it out for a playoff spot.
You mean like the last two games of last season?

Let's not interpret what I said as meaning Hutson will get beat every game, on every shift. Two games is a small sample size. His speed straightaway speed both back and front skating has been an issue longer.
Anyone know how long it took for Quinn Hughes or Adam Fox to run their respective PP1?
Fox took over as QB of NYR PP in 2nd half of rookie season - displacing DeAngelo
Yeah because they aren't STUPID are we?View attachment 909888
Adam fox , looks like year two

Quinn got it right off the bat at 20
context is important here. He went to waivers due to effort/production/form, not a lack of talent/IQ. His ability to pass and see plays develop isn't poor. That's what i'm taking issue with here.He cleared waivers in 2023. I don't think he's getting rated too low. He has the physical ability and shot to be a 20 goal scorer, it's the desire that is lacking.
If speed was their biggest concern with Hutson, would they pair him up with Savard? And any time he gets beat, he lets his partner come in and angle the attack threat while he goes back and takes away the pass option.
Two games might be a small sample size but he's already shown in critical games and actual competition trying to make the playoffs that he can be a far bigger positive than the small negatives.
And in all those occasions, the routes to the net were still not optimal, giving the goalie a good chance to square up and not be beat.

Maybe - just maybe - they’re more concerned about defensive zone positioning and net-front presence.
The stats you quoted here suggest that both PP1 (Hughes) and PP2 (Fox) are viable options for the rookie.Yeah because they aren't STUPID are we?
This is the only guy I may be over the top with...
I'm not wrong though with regards to our PP.
Slowly work him in .
The only working in that needs to happen is with the other four guys out there.
I've never had an issue with his skill level but rather his lack of desire. This is a contract year so I anticipate he will play with effort if he desires another NHL deal.context is important here. Armia isn't a bad player, but he's not used properly. He can play defense, but his main quality, positive and negative, is high events. They need to play him with someone who can jump on the loose pucks he generates rather than other defensive players who back off and let opponents do the retrieval.context is important here. What was their PP% at the time? Because I know where ours was at.The stats you quoted here suggest that both PP1 (Hughes) and PP2 (Fox) are viable options for the rookie.
The rangers weren’t being stupid by waiting.
I dunno man, maybe some AHL time could help.Hope that Suzuki kid makes it too
He sounds like he's happy to be in MTL

Matheson’s power play points / 60 were slightly better than DeAngelo’s when Fox was a rookie on the 2nd unit. What was their PP% at the time? Because I know where ours was at.
Everyone knows Matheson was never a PP1 guy anywhere in the NHL nor was he a Top Pairing guy.
And here you are...There were two reasons why the hugely talented Hutson fell to the bottom of the second round in his draft year: lack of size and limited straightforward speed. All the playing time in Laval will have no ameliorating effect on the former and limited effect on the latter. Hutson’s game is akin to riding a motorcycle: exciting until the moment of contact. Once Hutson turns over the puck, both he and the team are in trouble as Hutson lacks the recovery speed to eliminate the counter attack. We all saw Hutson's limitation against the Flyers' B squad. He was beaten wide on a couple of occasions. Imagine what would happen when Hutson plays against against elite NHL competition.
The question is whether Hughes and MSL are prepared to take the good along with the bad that Hutson offers. I think they will. Hutson's offensive skills are so superior and potentially game changing that the risks that Hutson's limitations pose will have to be accepted. A restive fan base will accept nothing less, particularly if the power play struggles. I think it also comes down to a timing or staging issue in Hughes' plans to re-build the team. While the team is showing positive signs that the building blocks for constructing a legitimate contender are being assembled, the team is still not there yet. Hughes understands this and realizes that until he can shed those overpaid and under performing veterans from the roster and the wave of talented prospects (Demidov, Hage, Kapanen, Beck, Florian, Tuch, etc.) arrive, play and contribute as hoped for, this team will remain more a pretender than contender.
As I said before, hockey, like all professional sports, at its essence, is entertainment. And the skillful Hutson is a great showman. He has elite skill which will put fans in the seats and merchandise on their backs. Hutson is part of the wave of talented players that will bring excitement, interest and high offensive skill to a rebuilding team. If Hughes and MSL took a chance on Laine, they'll take a chance on Hutson. What do they and the team have to lose?
This is going to be an interesting year.
Exciting hockey is back on the menu.
26 minutes for Hutson tonight.
AC’s Gagnon saying he is stretching out his outings to 1:20-1:25 and believes that will have to be reigned in.
Leave him out there for 60 mins straight, kid is a killer

Not my favorite panel truth be told.

Yeah I understood that from the get go.I'm pretty sure Runner did that for contrast and humor. Nobody cares what Gaston has to say.
