Lane Hutson's next series will be 2 our of 3 or 1 game winner take all?

No, it's a one and done type game.

If you're interested, here is the format and schedule.

Since Boston University is the top seed, they would be playing the lowest seed of whoever is left after Wednesdays games.

Depends on how much muscle he tacks on, college play is all about buying time for Hutson to add muscle & power, he’s NHL ready skill wise IMO
I agree for the most part as his puck skill and hockey IQ are phenomenal. He still has serious work to do on his back-skating and learning how to better use his assets to force attackers closer to the boards. When opponents attack the blue line he needs to find a way of effectively separating them from the puck instead of escorting them deep into the zone where they cam comfortably set up.

I love the chip on his shoulder and am confident that he will put in the work. This summer is huge for him if he has plans to turn pro after next season and I can't imagine the numbers he might put up in college if he makes significant skating and strength improvements/gains.

He’s better than Hughes I don’t understand the comparison other than height

Hughes is a far superior skater and to outright claim Hutson is better than Hughes based entirely on stats is rather silly imo.

Hughes played in the Big 10 which is significantly better than Hockey-East and people on this board never seem to want to take that into consideration.

This is not at all to say that Hutson can not be better than Hughes but he definitely is not better than him right now and is not better than Hughes at the same age.

Wow.............the kid must have some big time talent..............

Curious if anyone on here, has actually seen him play?

I watched quite a few of @montreal 's videos. Offensively he's tremendous. There's no question marks there. Decent wrister too.

Defensively I haven't seen him look truly horrendous but he's hardly a stud. I've seen him make some nice D plays here and there but not being able to skate backwards is a handicap. He looks positionally awkward. For a freshman who's on the smaller side and not a speedster it's not worrisome to my eyes but he absolutely needs to get better.

I don't see why people think he should be done after his sophomore season. I totally wouldn't object to him staying all 4 years and working on the rest of his game. Getting faster, stronger and better defensively could very well take another 3 years. Unless he REALLY shores up his game fast. Even then though.

He has his question marks and they're not trivial but not to the point where you'd write him off. No way.

I have watched as many of his highlites as possible, all I'm left with is he is doing this against collage opponents. Just cannot envision him doing it in the big league. Maybe his game will evolve and he will get stronger, no doubt he is superbly talented. Small and not speedy though.... in the NHL, I'm not sold. He will have to have his head on a swivel.

The big !0 was significantly better when Hughes was playing. Not sure it is this season.

Not this season, but I watched him play for two years here for the NTDP (have season tickets). He was impressive here, but I certainly didn't expect this in his freshman NCAA season. Watched Quinn Hughes for two years here too, and would rank Hughes ahead of Hutson based on both guys play here.

I think he ends up a bit of a Hughes lite which would be fantastic value in the 2nd

The Big 10 is easily....and it isn't very close, the best group in the NCAA. Just take a look at the names in the top 10 scorers in every league and you can clearly see the talent gap. This season is absolutely no different than others in that sense.

I am not sure that most posters know this as they never mention it other than the poster Montreal and a handful of others. If Luke or Quinn Hughes played in Hockey East they very well may have out scored Hutson. Fox was in an even weaker ECAC so I am not trying to dismiss Lane's numbers but there is certainly some context that needs to be added to the conversation.

If he was in his junior or senior year I'd be more inclined to agree. And you very well could be right. But as a freshman it's something else. When you're producing like that, those are the types of players that more than likely make the leaps to get them where they need to be.

Obvious statement is obvious but it's all about how much he improves next year. Caufield took a huge leap and if Hutson can do something similar than I'd be willing to bet the farm on him. but you're right, the question marks are real.

One thing is though, I'm more inclined to be chuffed by his absurd totals WITH his deficiencies. He's not getting destroyed out there physically. He's not routinely being embarrassed defensively and he's putting up enormous numbers DESPITE being fairly small and not overtly fast. He seems like a big time player too. Scores a lot of late important goals and really turns it on when the game's on the line. That's a great sign too. When a player can impose his will on the game like that.

People loved the pick when it happened yet NO ONE was expecting this. That likely means he made big strides in his game this year too.

I'm not all in on him yet but I also wouldn't bet against him.

Interesting, was not aware. How big is the gap?

Man, tone it down. There's liking a prospect, there being a fan, being a huge fan, obsessing over a prospect and then there's YOU!

You're close to getting a No Contact Order , breathe bud that's an unhealthy obsession you got going.
Absolutely zero obsession with Jabba the Hut(son), but go with that.

I'm just hopeful he can have as much of an impact at higher levels and, as for the reaction from the fans, that's exactly what it looked like and, TBH, considering how much of an offensive dynamo Hutson has been for his team this year - a record year for an NCAA D on a few levels (not even simply as a rookie), it makes sense that they are now reacting this way.

His height is less of a concern for me.

Mass and strength are more important because he's not a Western wind blowing without hindrance through a valley. He will need to win fights for the puck and a strong base is the solution for this kid when it comes to one-on-one battles for the puck.

It can also improve his straight line skating, explosive nature and high end speed.

Maybe but I'd rather be skinny than overweight and I play a lot of sports to stay that way
Hey, it's not an insult, just an observation.

I'd rather be skinny right now than overweight like I am, but, at 5'7", and 170 lbs, I was fit as a fiddle. At 200lbs+, I'm now definitely fat as fudge.

However, fit at 170lbs for that height has a lot to do with body type, shoulder width and muscle mass.

The legs potentially provide the heaviest muscles -- just look at St-Louis' legs!

A tall guy with twigs as legs is not a solid person on skates, but it's even worse for a short guy with twigs as legs -- he's just a leaf blowing in the wind out there on the ice.

Luckily for me I'm a goalie lol
