Man some are sleeping on Lane Hutson.

"Hiding" him, starting in the AHL, offensive specialist, poor pivot/backward skating, etc.

He is an obvious elite/star talent and you want him on the ice as much as possible as only a few defenseman in the league can move the puck like him. He generates offense from nothing and often starting from his own zone.

He is an absolute problem for the other team when he is on the ice, not for his team because he is small, some have it reversed here.

I argued last year at the same date a lot on this board for Slafkovsky as i thought he was an obvious star in the making. Lane Hutson is even more obvious and evident then Slaf was. He will be touted as our best defenseman very early and he will be an immediate big impact player. It is written black on white.

People are sleeping on the obvious photoshops on his legs and deep fake videos.

People are sleeping on zopiclone on him.

Seriously tho, remember his fight against the swedish player?

What gave me confidence in Slafkovsky was the evident starpower he displayed from even before the 2022 draft.

Hutson, aside from his obvious f***ing elite talent, also has that starpower and characted, in spades.

The pic was obviously altered....."photoshopped" may not have been the correct term but it was clearly tampered with or is your bias so blinding that you think that the intentional use of filters in that pic was merely a coincidence. The second photo that was posted that you laughably cited as evidence that the first was legit is a real pic and his legs are clearly smaller in that photograph.

He has obviously made some significant gains from the look of the second photo but people claiming that those are big legs clearly have never played the game as many of us had bigger legs in Bantam.

Anyways.....nice to see that he has been making progress as it should greatly help his explosiveness, balance and his ability to backskate as his tiny legs and butt were serious problems.

Are you still pushing this? Come on man.

It’s called angles and lighting.

You've been watching too much porn. That is a common refrain in that industry.

IF Hutson is indeed starting the year in the NHL
Then Savard 'will' be the partner

Only reason Guhle is playing RD is because Mailloux/Reinbacher aren't ready yet and because Matheson is de-facto LD1 still and kind of 'in the way' (which is the main reason a lot of us want to trade him at all) and Savard is not an RD1 at this juncture of his career

But the plan is not to keep Guhle as an RD permanently

I'm still not 100% convinced Hutson starts the season in the NHL, but not because he's not ready or anything but again just because of the luxury of all this D still right now
I'm on record that I want Hutson-Reinbacher to be our Top AHL D pair and see what they got for 30-40 games

I think we start the year
Matheson - Guhle
Harris/Struble/Xhekaj - Savard
Harris/Struble/Xhekaj - Barron
7th D : One of Harris/Struble/Xhekaj on any given night

Depending on injuries to whichever LD or RD, Hutson or Mailloux gets called up
(Keeping Reinbacher In AHL for the brunt, which I think will be instrumental for his development)
At present, we can afford to be patient, with promoting Hutson, Reinbacher, and Mailloux.
Could they all make the team, sure, but being cautious at this point with many others already ahead of them just affords us some time.

I could see us start the season with 6-7 defenders, who those same 6-7 guys do not finish the year with the habs, and one or two kids get promoted.

He continues to cough the puck up when pressured in his zone trying to make very high risk plays, is still weak on puck battles along boards & in front of the net, but his what +39(?) was the result of his strength … driving puck possession offense not defending
If a player carries the puck a lot and is one who generates offense he will tend to have a lot of give aways compared to a low offense low risk player as a generality

Waiting for camp to see what his and Koivu's are.

Pens won a cup with Letang/Gonchar
Fla with Forsling/Ekblad

Edm had Nurse and Bouchard as their top D.

We will be more than fine with Hutson, Reinbacher and Guhle as the main constituent of our D core.

+ Mailloux, Xhekaj and more!!

That's a perfect D-core to win a Cup. Great depth.

Subban had the size and physicality that Hutson will never possess. At the start of his NHL career, Subban was a physical, intimidating force who could control opponents along the boards or box them out in front of the net. He rarely lost puck battles and could deliver devastating open ice hits. Who could forget Subban nearly separating Marchand from his soul:

Regrettably, Subban made the decision to bulk up his body which robbed him of his quickness, end to end speed and offensive effectiveness. His legacy would have been much more impactful but for that decision. Probably would still be playing today.

Or he would’ve gotten horribly beaten up along the boards and injured

He clearly bulked a little too much.

Who knows about injuries though... he hurt himself in 2016 and that might've messed him up going forward. A shame because he was a blue chip HOFer.

As for Hutson, completely different kind of guy. He won't be nearly as physical and it's a different kind of puck control. More stickhandling less end to end rush. Those fakes he has are going to break some ankles.

It's called filters and editing, come on man it is 2024 how do you not recognize this.

It is a stupid conversation anyways, it should have ended with everybody acknowledging that the photo was clearly tampered with to some degree and just having a laugh. I got the same level of ridicule when I pointed out his back skating and when I said that he exaggerated his height.....both of which I was proven to be correct on but the same level of personal attacks and tribal nonsense came from the same people who are doing it again here.

I am a Hutson fan and am super excited to see him with the Habs this season. Unfortunately I am one of very few around here that can actually remain objective on the topic.

I’m very familiar with it. Have been playing around with those tools for a long time. You’re digging in your heels on something foolish here.

No it was not shopped, edited or f***ed with in any way. It’s simply a picture of a guy sitting down under favourable lighting. People on dating sites do this all the time. Middle aged men who are trying to get back in shape can look fantastic in the bathroom mirror and horrible at the beach. (Take my word for it.)

Let it go man.
