And no Canadian would ever, ever do such a thing, right Lindros?

I understand that it's pretty neat to play hockey for a living, but I can very much understand wanting to choose a city to work in, and have NMCs to avoid sudden unplanned moves.

The issue has nothing to do with being American or Canadian...
The issue is that the NCAA is treated differently than the CHL.

christ - reading comments in the tweet above someone posted Fowler has just gone 13-0 and is undefeated since feb 5.

Fowler has 1 loss in his last 19 games

can't because his contract is for this year.
Caufield played in Laval in identical circumstances.....pretty sure Hutson falls into the same category. I may very well may be missing something as this is just a knee-jerk reaction. Perhaps you could explain the difference?

Nice interview with Lane's dad

btw, he would like Iginla at 6th overall.

This was a very good interview. He said when asked about returning to Boston that he fully trusts Kent and gorton to do what is best for his son and when asked about playing ahl or nhl he said he just wants his son to be somewhere he can continue learning and if that’s the nhl he told his son to watch everything Nick Suzuki does.

Grant usually throws at least one cringe worthy question/statement out there but he managed to abstain this time. He is so incredibly unprofessional though and it is hard to believe that he has a journalism degree with how much he stumbles with putting together coherent sentences. I love dogs but figure it out Grant, you are an embarrassment.

Ok....that is out of the way lol.

I enjoyed the interview despite the terrible job by the interviewers as Rob is clearly a very knowledgeable hockey person and I feel that he is exactly aligned with my perspective on Lane. Lane is and always was a long term project as far as reaching the final product and people need to mitigate their expectations with reason and objectivity. I have been accused of being a Hutson hater by his sycophants even though I was clear that I wanted him with a 2nd round pick and was thrilled when we selected him. My criticisms are all valid as are the areas of his game where I heap praise on him and Rob is very clear that Lane has a lot of work ahead of him. He may very well require time in Laval as well as a few seasons in the NHL and it is going to be a period of extreme highs and lows due to the nature of his play-style and the nature of his strengths and weaknesses.

Let's do our best as a collective to minimize the hyperbolic extremes of the conversation and try to enjoy the highs without anointing him with Hughes/Fox status and to not call him a bust when he has poor stretches. All we need to look for is year to year progression and not get caught up in game to game or shift to shift over reactions.

However it turns out I am pumped to watch it unfold as he is so unique and the one thing that nobody will be able to claim is that he doesn't care or isn't working hard.

It will also be really interesting in his two games how much if any PP time MSL gives him. Does Marty really bump his veteran D who is capping off a career year and who is on the verge of being the highest scoring dman this team has had since Chelios 35 years ago. Matheson needs just 3 points to pass Souray and Markov's number of 64.

It is a little ridiculous that Lane doesn't even have the opportunity to get a team skate in before his first game on Monday so everyone please keep that in mind while watching his debut.

If you did 2022 year's draft again, where does our little Rudy go? Top 15 right?

It's why they couldn't send Farrell down to Laval last year, they aren't on the AHL clear day roster. That's why the Habs want Tuch to sign his contract for next season and a PTO now so he can join Laval.

Twas the night before the game, excitement in the air,
In Montreal, anticipation, fans everywhere.

Lane Hutson, the star, poised for his debut,
On the ice tomorrow(?), his talent to imbue.

With skates laced tight, and jersey adorned,
He steps on the ice, where legends are born.

In the sea of red, his presence shines bright,
Ready to battle, with all of his might.

Through sweat and through struggle, he'll give his all,
For the glory of victory, he'll heed the call.

Could Lane Hutson be the next legend to see?
In Montreal's lore, for eternity?

Hard to say. Only 16 players from that draft have played an nhl game so far. I'm sure if your creative you could come up with a list of more that 20 players but I can't see 30 picked before him

It also helps that Lane comes from a real hockey family and culture. His dad is a very respected minor hockey coach in the U.S. and it probably resulted in some innate hockey sense.
