He'll get 20 pounds easy .Once he gets a taste of poutine the pounds will get packed on very quickly. Not worried at all.

Smoked meat and pizza is amazing in Montreal too.Once he gets a taste of poutine the pounds will get packed on very quickly. Not worried at all.
For the record in the interview he did with Grant he said he was 165lbs but had lost a couple of pounds during the World Juniors due to the intensity of the tournament. He’ll be 180 by starting night 25-26. Also, I can’t believe I wrote ‘way’ instead of weigh…
What I'm getting at here, is who, in history, is Lane Hutson's model? I can't think of a single successful player like him at the NHL level in the history of the game. Probably plenty in lower leagues though.
Will Hutson be the first? Maybe
I dunno, I don't really even think the unicorn stuff applies at this point. He's 5'9 now, yeah he's still tiny but he's also still 19, he won't be 160 pounds forever and 5'9 isn't exceedingly small in today's game. He’s a bit of a unicorn but so is Quinn Hughes. Small blueliners just didn’t exist in the past. But the game has evolved. The obstruction rules are a game changer as is the elimination of the red line and the more offensive game the league is evolving towards.
Not putting yourself in a bad position (lots of Habs players bad at this), off-ice training and how good you take care of your body is how you avoid injuries. My only concern is can he avoid the big hit/injuries? Now I’m certain at his size he’s practiced “evasive actions” his entire life.
maybe it’s more wear & tear, since Dach is 6’4” and constantly injured!
Bigger targets compared to a smaller target I think makes a difference. You’re not making contact with the same parts of the body. Lower centre of gravity too. I’m not saying a small guy can’t get hurt of course, but it does seem to be the bigger guys. Look at Gallagher. He used to take a beating and most of his injuries came from Webers shots. Mete was small and I don’t remember him getting hurt. Not putting yourself in a bad position (lots of Habs players bad at this), off-ice training and how good you take care of your body is how you avoid injuries.
It’s hard to put on weight during the season. For the record in the interview he did with Grant he said he was 165lbs but had lost a couple of pounds during the World Juniors due to the intensity of the tournament.
Yet I have zero issue doing it, in fact I put on more than when hockey is not onIt’s hard to put on weight during the season.
I’d be shocked if another team made such an offer. Yes he’s producing like crazy, but he is small and hasn’t done anything professionally yet.Unless we get an outstanding offer I think it would be quite dumb to trade Hutson at this point. We need a better handle on what we have with him

I agree which is also why trading him makes no sense now. We're not likely to get much and we might be trading a Unicorn.I’d be shocked if another team made such an offer. Yes he’s producing like crazy, but he is small and hasn’t done anything professionally yet.
You and me both bud.Unless we get an outstanding offer I think it would be quite dumb to trade Hutson at this point. We need a better handle on what we have with him

He’s 5’10.I dunno, I don't really even think the unicorn stuff applies at this point. He's 5'9 now, yeah he's still tiny but he's also still 19, he won't be 160 pounds forever and 5'9 isn't exceedingly small in today's game.
He doesn't have to be a Quinn Hughes type unicorn to be successful (and there's not really any comparison between the two, Hughes is one of the best skaters in the game and Hutson never will be), he can just be Torey Krug with more skill IMO.
If he had been 6'0 he would have been a top 10 pickHe’s 5’10.
I think he’d have been a top ten even if he was 5’10 then.If he had been 6'0 he would have been a top 10 pick

I hope we don’t see him in the NHL until 25/26He's just like Caufield in that you rarely see him get tagged. He's going to have lots of problems with his size and strength if they rush him to the NHL, we saw how Sean Farrell struggled in his NHL debut as going directly from the NCAA to the NHL is not easy for small, not overly quick, average skaters. Now Hutson is smaller but quicker better skater then Farrell and likely a decent amount more skilled but still it's not going to be easy at his weight.
He’s 5’10.
He’s skinny because he’s still growing. All that food has gone into his height. He’ll add weight when that stops. Is he ? I thought he plateaued at 5'9". It's not only that he's 5'9", he's so frail for that size, on top of lacking power in his skating. Those two things are why I temper my expectations. If he was bigger or even a better skater, I think he'd be a lock as a star offensive defenseman.
I sure hope so... They have him at 148 on hockeydb. How he's going to move big NHL powerforwards. That's what, 100 pounds less than Slaf and Savard? lolFor the record in the interview he did with Grant he said he was 165lbs but had lost a couple of pounds during the World Juniors due to the intensity of the tournament.
I saw a pic of him with his coach, who's 6'1", and he's about 5'10"He’s 5’10.
Evasive actions are not going to matter during the playoffs when the other team purposely dumps the puck in with the intention on grinding him down. Defensemen can't avoid contact if they want to play actual defense. My only concern is can he avoid the big hit/injuries? Now I’m certain at his size he’s practiced “evasive actions” his entire life.

He’s never going to be Shea Weber in the crease but he doesn’t shy away from physical play either. As long as they give him some time to pack on some muscle he’ll be fine.Evasive actions are not going to matter during the playoffs when the other team purposely dumps the puck in with the intention on grinding him down.
