7 points in 11 games. You have no claim to suggest it won't work in the NHL.
Good for him, unfortunately, with him on the ice, the opponent generates a lot, and MTL generates very little. 37.9% xGoals share right now is atrocious.

If hutson keeps this up over a full season he will be in some certifiably ugly territory. Here is every player since 2007 to have a sub 38% xGoals share 5v5. Tbf, most guys with those results don't make it to 500 minutes.

Cool story. Hutson a) isn't on that list (pure speculation that he'll be), and b) is also a rookie. Who on list is a rookie? Hutson's doing fine and is only going to get better.

With that I conclude this discussion.

Hutson isn't on that list because I set the minimum minutes to 500.

Like I said, if he keeps this up for the rest of the season, he'll join an ugly group. Here's what it looks like with the minutes requirement set to 190 (this list includes 4000+ dmen seasons)

If your standard for fine is a sub 40% xGoals share, YIKES. I guess I have higher standards.

Every level except the NHL.

This is comedy gold. The kid has 9 points in 13 nhl games as a rookie defensemen but this guy says he doesnt produce at NHL level. HAhaahahaahaahaah. ands its not like those 9 points were puck luck. Almost all those points were his work. And he created soooooo many other chances that didn't end in a goal. But this guy pretends he watched 2 games and then clicked a few checkboxes on his adv stats filters as a pathentic attempt to promote his obvious agenda that Hutson basically sucks. Pathetic.

This kid is the real deal. Montreal has a real gem on their hands in this kid.

I don't watch all Vancouver games, but see enough. Hutson looks nothing like Hughes. The comparison is totally bizarre. Hutson is more like a d-man version of Datsyuk if we look at playstyle. I hear Fox as a stylistic comparison too, which is better, but I think that's mostly because neither are exceptionally fast. Hutson has his own style.

I think the Fox comparison is also because both have vision and tend to be creative as well. They rely a lot more on their brains than their feet. As a NJ fan I will say that each poster speaks for themselves. There is not a conspiracy against Hutson that I am aware of. I think some of the problem is that the more extreme portions of the Hutson fanbase (which is largely but not exclusively MTL fans) have hyped him up beyond reasonable expectations at times. That has led to some looking to counter that which is just as extreme. He's a rookie and an unconventional NHL player. It's not surprising he has work to do and needs improvement. He's a smart kid and a hard worker. With time he will iron out the warts in his game and improve where he needs to. Until then there is no shame in giving him credit where it is due and noticing where he needs improvement. The trick is for observers to stay away from putting him on a pedestal or character assassination, neither of which are fair to the player or the discussion.

I'll take the first 10 posts as an example here.

The vast of the those posts are not Habs fans, and saying stuff like he scored a billion points in junior, that Bobby Orr is now irrelevant, that the norris should be renamed after him, that he's the next Ryan poehling.

The first Habs post actually isn't registered until #5, who thinks hutson is a sure fire nhler. Sure, a little presumptions but hardly a confrontational take relative to the others in that lot.

Only reason I bring this up is not to suggest that certain Habs fans aren't doing the same thing, but I'd question the notion that the rest of the non-habs community here is simply counteracting the hype. It looks like they are instigating at least on this thread, and the tone was set right from the start.
