Of course he can, he saw him 2 games......7 points in 11 games. You have no claim to suggest it won't work in the NHL.

Good for him, unfortunately, with him on the ice, the opponent generates a lot, and MTL generates very little. 37.9% xGoals share right now is atrocious.7 points in 11 games. You have no claim to suggest it won't work in the NHL.
Cool story. Hutson a) isn't on that list (pure speculation that he'll be), and b) is also a rookie. Who on list is a rookie? Hutson's doing fine and is only going to get better.Good for him, unfortunately, with him on the ice, the opponent generates a lot, and MTL generates very little. 37.9% xGoals share right now is atrocious.
If hutson keeps this up over a full season he will be in some certifiably ugly territory. Here is every player since 2007 to have a sub 38% xGoals share 5v5. Tbf, most guys with those results don't make it to 500 minutes. View attachment 925110
Hutson isn't on that list because I set the minimum minutes to 500.Cool story. Hutson a) isn't on that list and b) is also a rookie. Who on list is a rookie? Hutson's doing fine and is only going to get better.
Every level except the NHL.
I think the Fox comparison is also because both have vision and tend to be creative as well. They rely a lot more on their brains than their feet. As a NJ fan I will say that each poster speaks for themselves. There is not a conspiracy against Hutson that I am aware of. I think some of the problem is that the more extreme portions of the Hutson fanbase (which is largely but not exclusively MTL fans) have hyped him up beyond reasonable expectations at times. That has led to some looking to counter that which is just as extreme. He's a rookie and an unconventional NHL player. It's not surprising he has work to do and needs improvement. He's a smart kid and a hard worker. With time he will iron out the warts in his game and improve where he needs to. Until then there is no shame in giving him credit where it is due and noticing where he needs improvement. The trick is for observers to stay away from putting him on a pedestal or character assassination, neither of which are fair to the player or the discussion.I don't watch all Vancouver games, but see enough. Hutson looks nothing like Hughes. The comparison is totally bizarre. Hutson is more like a d-man version of Datsyuk if we look at playstyle. I hear Fox as a stylistic comparison too, which is better, but I think that's mostly because neither are exceptionally fast. Hutson has his own style.

i wonder if there is any space left under the bus ...Yeah you're right man, he should be turning the worst wingers in the NHL into goal scoring machines.
Who couldn't on a powerplay with Gallagher, Kapanen, Armia, and Newhook?
But if they didn't give him 25 minutes a night of getting caved in what would MTL fans point to as to why he's a superstar?Feels like Montreal's mishandling his development at this point.
Whats the alternative? AHL?Feels like Montreal's mishandling his development at this point.
Yes. The AHL. Where he can work on his defensive game and not be thrown to the wolves.Whats the alternative? AHL?
His handling is the best possible option that could have happened for him. He should be buying MSL lunch every single day out of thanks for believing in him.
What is defensive game? Care to explain this oversimplification? After watching Luke Hughes yesterday I feel much better about Hutson defensive game.
Hutson gives up 50% more shots, 80% more expected goals, and 100% more actual goals this year. After watching Luke Hughes yesterday I feel much better about Hutson defensive game.
It’s called coping. If he’d actually watched NJ he’d have said he felt better about Hutson’s defense after watching Hamilton play last night. Luke was fine in the scheme of things. What is defensive game? Care to explain this oversimplification?
one plays on a staked team the other on a basement dweller.Hutson gives up 50% more shots, 80% more expected goals, and 100% more actual goals this year.
Last night, hughes was on the ice for 0.36 expected goals against 5v5. Hutson 1.45 (including a disaster of a play on the Jack Hughes goal)

Perhaps the defensve play of these 2 players has an impact on that. Lane made a pretty atrocious play cheating down low in the ozone (without the puck) letting Jack spring free for a breakaway goal.one plays on a staked team the other on a basement dweller.
Is Hutson the greatest and most gifted young defenseman to enter the league since Erik Karlsson, or is he unable to elevate players around him because he's a wee little baby that needs his blankey and hot choccy? Habs fans can't have it both ways.i wonder if there is any space left under the bus ...
