Chevy has shown that he excels at trades when he’s painted into a corner (Kane, Trouba, now Dubois). Excited to see how this all plays out, and hope Vilardi can stay healthy!

As a Jets fan that is happy with this deal, PLD is being heavily undervalued in this thread.

He had a very good season last year where for big parts of it was easily our best player. When he is on and physical he can take over games. Still young still developing consistency. Could see him being an 80 point player over the next couple of seasons and maintaining that point level for most his career.

Up until the last quarter of last season, any and every jet fan would have been over the moon if we could’ve signed PLD to 8x8.5 contract
It's the classic hf response. In general this board doesn't value physicality because you can't put it in a chart, they don't typically watch other teams and most posters have never experienced playing a physical sport. So they don't understand the value.

Legit the only reason Jets are competitive is due to drafting and typically good contracts/trading. (Before anyone mentions that's every team, NYR got like 2 of their top 4 Dman because NYC is attractive).

I don’t really value people who think they have an authority in a game they played twenty years ago in some obscure beer league.

Please. Just because someone has a differing opinion doesn’t mean they don’t understand the game. I’d say they know the nuances of the statistics better than some guy who creams himself over hits.

It's amazing how much better your defense and goalies look when you have three big centers controlling play down at the other end.

When you add shedding Durzi to make this work it was an extremely steep price. Chevy worked the media well to get what he wanted. I don't see how LA come ahead here in the short term. It will be fine after next season.

Dubois isn’t a physical beast though. He’s big and strong but he doesn’t play a greasy game. Crosby smacked him around. He turtled.

Good player but I think he’s in the Horvat/Lindholm class. About a million and a half overpaid. He is 25 though,,three years younger than those guys so he may have another gear. LA gave up good depth but they could afford to. Win-win trade.

????

I assume you don't know any of the players.
Vilardi alone is on PLD level.
I said I don’t know the kumari guy was. But it appears to be a mid first they’re giving up on. Vuillard i is an early first they’re giving up on and iafollo is a roster player they’re giving up on. Easy win for LA. Chevy whaddareyadoing?

If Kupari isn't a healthy scratch for the Jets at some point next year, I'd be shocked.

Physical greasy game is exactly the game Dubois plays. He did it less effectively in the second half of the season while he was dealing with a hip injury, but when he's healthy he is exactly the player you're saying he's not. That would be my biggest concern if I was a Kings' fan, can Dubois play the game that makes him effective and stay healthy?

One of the biggest selling points for the Kings in this deal is the contract itself. It's considerably less money than most were expecting.

Vilardi alone would have been enough for PLD. Adding in Iafalo and Kapuri and if Blake threw in a couple picks it would have been enough to get them Helleybuck too as a one year rental. This would have made LA the favorites from the West.

LA should have gone all in, go big or go home.

Who are they going to sign for goal, Ulmark?

What do the Habs have to beat that offer?
Kupari is crap. So it's Vilardi, Iafallo and a draft pick. Any one of the Habs top 5 beats that but they aren't available. I would say Anderson, Dvorak and the Jets 1st/Habs 2nd would be a similar offer. If Vilardi can remain injury free (a big if) the LA offer is better.

It's around what he should get. Either Dubois screwed up or he knew he wasn't getting 8.5 from Montreal so he didn't try to force his way there.
