If that’s the return, that’s a big L for the Kings. That’s not even including the massive contract this guy is looking for.

That's not good enough for the Kings to be a contender. So much more needs to be done to the roster for it to be.
I agree but I do not think this makes LA an instant contender either. One of the key things Vegas won with is Depth. Same with LA in 12 and 14.

All this talk about bad attitude is hilarious. Kings have had many “problematic” players that have had worked out just fine, his attitude is least of my concerns.

When you think about want Montreal gave up for Newhook (Florida first and the 37th pick... the later we will graciously say is equivalent to Kidney), if you would have chipped in Dvorak (no value), that apparently was want you wanted to offer Winnipeg for Dubois.

Instead, you got Newhook.

This should tell you your valuations were so incredibly off.

Vilardi is garbage. He should be no where close to a teams top 6. He’s about as overrated as Josh Anderson at this point.
Another person who didn't watch him last year. Dude has some of the best hands and hockey IQ in the game. Only knock is really his skating. He was also great defensively. I looked at both Vilardi and Dubois last year and I don't see Dubois as this much better player. Any real hockey fan will be able to recognize how good Vilardi was this past year.

The Kings needs are as follows:

-Goaltender
-3C
-LHD (high level prospect)
-Bottom 6 help.

If this trade takes care of 3 of those 4, well... that would make me happy.

Obviously, the 3C role will be filled by Danault moving down.

We could retain 50% on helle, Harkins might help your bottom 6 and heinola is a high level LHD prospect.. but I'm thinking you'd have to add another piece you wouldn't want to to make that happen

I believe -LHD (high level prospect) will come from Winnipeg in this trade.

Divas can win cups, just look at O'Reilly, Eichel, etc

the issue is Blake

Blake is a bonehead, regardless
When divas grow up and mature at least a bit, sure. Then the question becomes will they?

I mean don't get me wrong. Dubois is talented. No questions there. But this still feels like a really heavy investment where they were better off seeing how far Vilardi can take his game.

If PLD puts in some effort, I think he would be worth the package. He's the full package and a prototype playoff center.

The problem is that there have been now some instances where PLD showed zero engagement. Getting guaranteed 64+ mio $ might be not the best getting him motivated.
