What is LA's cap situation sitting at with Dubois at $8 million and Vilardi, Kupari and Iaffalo out? I still feel like they have to clear out more money but I'm not sure if that's correct.

I can't believe the amount of folks saying that this is a bad trade for LA. They are loaded with center prospects but they don't have a for-sure Kopitar successor. Dubois, at his best, is exactly that.

Your name couldn't be more perfect.

You'd have to be the real Chuck Fletcher to think that Dubois is somehow a Kopitar successor.

PLD extension would count against next season’s cap. Sounds like a tagging space issue.

Edit: Never mind, didn’t realize those were next season’s cap numbers.
It must be tagging but they have a ton of space from contracts expiring on June 30th- maybe with the players coming in who are under contract - but even then Vilardi and Kupari are RFAs so no issue

The king's are following Vegas route.

Kopitar
PLD
Danault

That's as solid of a trio of centers as it gets. Easily as good as Vegas trio of Eichel, Stephenson, Karlsson.
Not really it's close.

D is less and as of today the goaltending is less.

That's for today.

Tomorrow could be much better.

Kings fans are some of the worst for overrating their players on these boards
How do you figure? I'm pretty neutral with most of the stuff but I gotta say i'm not even sure PLD is a better player than Vilardi right now. Only question with Vilardi is injury history. He has more upside.

Vilardi is garbage. He should be no where close to a teams top 6. He’s about as overrated as Josh Anderson at this point.

Fill the 3C role with Danault. Cannot get much better at 3C than that.
The Kings need at least 3 center that win faceoffs in the playoffs and kill penalties. They have two. Adding PLD...well, still at 2. Doesn't matter what you call Danault.

and still hasn't cracked 70 points...
So your argument is that because he didn't reach his peak a1 21 or 23 year old he must not be very good? Again, pacing for 90 points as a 24 year old until he suffered a demonstratively rare injury. Expect higher this year as he entered his NHL prime at 25-28 years. I was thinking it was mainly Habs fans dealing with denial in this thread but Oilers fans seem a little worried as well.

Vilardi alone has higher upside than PLD. He's a PPG player who is younger and can play wing or center. And he doesn't have a bad attitude like PLD.

I love Gabe and all but people need to stop exaggerating his production. He is literally not a PPG player, and would never be one on LA--look how many PPG seasons we've had in the last 20 years.

Has nothing to do with PLD just in general

Worried? Honestly, it's entirely the opposite. I'm fully on-board with this trade as an Oilers fan.

It was the Kings depth that made them challenging to play against, and they're murdering that depth for a guy that honestly looks completely disinterested half the time.

I sincerely think the Kings are making themselves worse by trading a guy that PACED for 30 goals with 3rd line minutes, a guy that was a pain in the playoffs, and good prospect for a guy I see as a low end 1C/high end 2C.
