If Kreider is traded it's going to signal the Rangers throwing in the towel on this season. It will be for futures.

Fiala is a half decade younger and he has term. He’s not a rental. I’m not saying Rangers should be interested in this deal, I wouldn’t be only as I dislike Fiala.

Beyond this I doubt Drury is after futures in any deal. His job is on the hot seat (or at least I’d perceive it should be) Rangers giving up on the season wouldn’t be a sign of a rebuilding team, they would simply retool. That would be my thought.

If Kreider is traded in think its for a prospect center or dman. All of their top prospects closest to NHL action are wings. B prospect and a 2nd is what I'd expect. Upgrade on return if Rangers retain.

The contract is tough for NYR to take right now. especially with the future of their core and defense. He's having a down year and the risk of being burned by that contract may be greater than the reward. Kreider seems to be playing through an Injury right now so I don't think LA wants to do this unless they really want out of that contract.

He turns 34 in a few months.

Turcotte is finally in a spot where things are working. Let's leave him there.

The most practical bet in town is the Kings adding a veteran scoring forward at the deadline, and you know it won't be to flesh out the 4th line.

Losing Fiala and allowing Turcotte to thrive down the lineup is a good thing.

The Kopitar-Kempe line needs a facilitator IMO. Not a shoot first guy.

I think Turcotte is one of those guys who works better with better players.

I'd rather swap out Fiala for players like Garland, Boeser or Bjorkstrand. They can play on the 2nd line while Turcotte stays on the top.
