He's damaged goods? Because he's playing hurt or because he is on pace for 4 assists? If the guy gets healthy he is still probably the best net front presence in the NHL. You don't think a contender can use that in a playoff run?

Here's the problem with this logic. The Kings are very likely going to make the playoffs. They will very naturally be looking to add vets at the deadline and Kreider would be a pretty big get. The Rangers very possibly are not going to make the playoffs. An underachieving vet with an almost $8 mil paycheck for the next 3 year---what would a player like that do for a team that doesn't make the playoffs? He wouldn't do shit for us. He doesn't make our team any better than us just keeping Kreider and he wouldn't help make our organization better like moving Kreider for picks/prospects/young roster players might. The entire point of moving a player like Kreider in a deadline deal is to go younger---and considerably younger than Fiala. It would be beyond stupid for the Rangers to trade Kreider for him.
