All this top 5 pick stuff should stop. Do people not look at the other divisons and realize teams like chicago ottawa red wing sabres devils etc are playing playoff teams 8 times while we play duck sharks coyotes We have a ton more easy games and should win a fair share of them.

edit At worse i see us as a top 10 maybe at worse at best we make the playoffs

I'm not saying I want to tank. I think the bottom 5 is plausible and this year is about getting younger players like Walker, Roy, Mikey Anderson, Vilardi, Kempe, Lizotte, Iafallo (although he's 27) AND up and coming players like: Lias Andersson, Grundstrom more games (and possible callups / 6 games ELC) Turcotte, Byfield, Kaliyev, Thomas, Madden, Fagemo's Kupari's, Dudas, Hults possible games.

If your team has Amadio, Luff, Wagner (all AHL players; yes Wagner is that) you are not a playoff team. It looks like Carter is revived (but 36 and injury prone) but Kopitar has not looked great and is slowing down and Doughty has looked ABYSMAL. Granted, Kopi and Doughty will look better, but 'not 2014 better'. It is what it is. Where is the goal scoring? Athanasiou and possibly Carter or Kopi could reach 15-18 in 56 games, but who else can? Vilardi an outside shot at best.

I'm not rooting for a tank. I hope the Kings make the playoffs, but it's going to take 2-4 players uber over performing...like Kempe scoring 20, or Vilardi doing that.
I'm also ok with getting Power or Brandt Clarke and all of the younger players getting better. Plus, a ton of quality prospects a year in the AHL. Ones that are going to be much better than the Amadio's, Luff's and Wagners. Oh, and the Moore's.

Have u looked at the other division's at all? There are some pretty stacked divisions Look at the north for example the sens have to play toronto edmonton montreal calgary vancouver all playoff teams The divisions and schedule is really against some teams The kings have a easier schedule than teams like the wings hawks devil sabres sens etc People need to take this in consideration when talking about where the kings will finish.

Edit I am not saying the Kings are not a bottom 5 team talent wise What i am saying is there is no way we finish bottom 5 point wise :)

Agreed. I have seen some of them in their first games and know that the Kings have easier teams to play.

The reality is that the Kings are a pretty bad hockey team. You are 100% right in that they have easier opponents but that doesn't mean that they will win games against them. OTT, DET, CHI, NJ etc. are all weak teams as well. The Kings can lose to anyone including Anaheim and San Jose. I have seen nothing that shows me that they should be a much of a favorite against anyone so far this year. Anaheim just shut out Minn 1-0. DET is 2-2. We are going to lose our 3rd game in 3 games so far. I would be happy winning 1 game before predicting where they will draft. I don't think anyone wants a tank.

It's clear that they are in transition but when your vets like Kopitar, Doughty and Brown are not really doing much, it's hard to see them winning too many games regardless of who they play.

I just realized that for the past few years every 2nd overall pick has come in immediately and started performing. Kakko, Svechnikov, Nolan, Laine.

Kakko...? I wouldn’t call what he did last season “performing.”

I personally wouldn't consider Nolan assuming it's Nolan Patrick performing either. But I guess he did better then Kakko.

Since Doughty was picked 2 in ‘08

Hedman played after draft in 09-10 but didn’t score more than 30 until 13-14

Seguin played in 10-11 but scored 11g and 11a. I’m sure if Byfield scored that we’d all panic.

Landeskog played in 11-12 and did well scoring 22g and 30a

Murray was hurt and didn’t play until 13-14

Barkov played in 13-14 and scored 8g and 16a followed by 16g and 20a. Both would send naysayers panicking on Byfield.

Reinhart played only 9 games in 14-15 then had 23g and 19a in 15-16

Eichel played in 15-16 and scored 24g and 32a.

Laine played in 16-17 and scored 36g and 28a.

Patrick played in 17-18 and scored 13g and 17a.

Svechnikov played in 18-19 and scored 20g and 17a.

Kakko played in 19-20 and scored 10g and 13a.

So while most played right after their draft years I’d say only Laine, Landeskog and Eichel took the league by storm. And players like Seguin, Barkov, Kakko, Patrick were disappointing.

Also reminds of me of when people were HEAPING praise on Kirby Dach when he was being outproduced by Kyle Clifford. He slightly fixed that by the end of the season, but it just shows it's about what lens you choose to use.

And Lafreniere showing nothing yet....how can this be??
He plays a very matured game.
He had a great shift early second period.
He dropped the puck in the corner late 3rd period to gain time.

Sure...

I have nothing against him and no doubt he will turn out fine but no rookie plays like **** if you believe any fan.

Nobody answered me before, but I'd still like to know who Ottawa was going to pick if they had the #2 pick. Anyone know?

Sens fan here, early on it was 50/50, as the draft got closer, it was more Stutzle, 60-65% maybe. Might be related to already waiting on 6’5”” 12th overall centre Logan Brown. Right now Logan has all the skill tools, still lacking in compete and defensive wise.

Anyways with being in opposite conferences I hope both QB and TS do well.

I've really enjoyed watching Stutzle so far, he's not dominating games yet but you can tell that at some point he will start to.

We'll see you guys in the Stanley Cup Final in a few years, but I warn you we are bringing Deadmarsh back for that series.
