I know quite a few people dislike advanced stats but the Rangers are an example of a team with bad Corsi and why that is problematic.

Even if you're getting excellent goaltending and counterpunching well--which the rangers have done arguably the best in the league over the last half-decade--if you're just getting pounded into your own zone game after game, you're more likely that not to lose those games. I think that's why the Kings are so effective against the Rangers long-term--our game is be physical, hem them in; THeir's is essentially hem THEMSELVES in and pray.

And I find it incredibly humorous to read complaints about Kings shot attempts from the opponent side . Like they're getting angry because the Kings are "padding their corsi" stats. Stop peppering our team with shots that won't go in! Your team is making our advanced stats look bad, when that's not the entire story of this game! Meanwhile...Bang! Down by 1. Boom! Tie game. Pow! Game over.

Fraser gonna fraser on TSN... Trying to get more readers/viewers.
Such a joke...
Still think one of the most egoistic, POS referees in the NHL history that has had too many pucks shoot at his head.
His hair tho...

How can anyone seriously say that that was interference by Toffoli on Lundqvist...? :loony: The way I saw it he barely even touches him.

If that's interference we may as well shut down the league and start playing basketball, maybe people will be happy with a non-contact sports.

I don't agree with his conclusions this time. But I do have a lot of respect for Fraser.

Chill.
If there's one thing Fraser is known for, it's making controversial NHL calls... He's just enjoying it now on TSN - idiotic opinions and sex always sell.
He hasn't changed at all since his refereeing days - still the same ol' small narcissistic water-bug.

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but the last couple of road game I've noticed a lot of Kings fans in the crowd. Like Koitar's goal against Dallas, right when he scores you can hear cheering and fans celebrating. That's nice to see.

I agree with Fraser to an extent and I thought the same last night in regards to McDOnagh CERTAINLY pushed Toffoli in and tried to hold him there, and I also agree that TT could have done a little bit more to get out, but 1. He had initial position, it was McDonagh that came to take it away by shoving TT into the goalie; TT shouldn't necessarily vacate the play because the d-man is a moron, that was a bad play by Ryan and he could/should have pushed toffoli aside and 2. that whole play happened a lot faster than Fraser is giving it credit for imo in addition to 3. the contact was as minimal contact within the crease as you will see AND it was initiated by Henrik. The shot went to the OTHER side. I could see it being interference (incidental contact, not a penalty) if the shot went to their right because Toffoli's position prevented Henrik from freely moving across but that's certainly not the case.

I agreed with Fox last night that it was a judgment call but I think it was a whole lot better than a 50-50 one more of a 75-25 one because of the factors above.

By Kerry Fraser:
Toffoli wrapped McDonagh with both arms and then pulled the Rangers defenceman toward him.

I don't know if it's appropriate to just laugh at a (porn) claim like this?.:biglaugh:

Actually, it's not that rare to see group of Kings fans in the western conference rival arenas...:)

This was my first assessment when I read it. Freeze framing and slowing down the play it looks like there's ample time for him to move to the side. But in real time he's battling for position, getting pushed back and bam, too late, goal's in the net. Also, if you watch the above view, Toffoli is attempting to make his way to HL's right over the course of the video. But McD's hip is keeping him from doing that. It's pretty clear cut.

If anything, I think a possible playoff avatar set came out of the Rangers' PGT.

Individual players with their name and "killed hockey" - i.e. "Dustin Brown killed hockey." Add some blood effects and we're good to go.

Or dust off the movie killer idea, and make it "LA Kings killed hockey" with a picture of Freddy, Jason, Pinhead, etc.

This is great. I quoted it on the Playoff Avatar thread. Hope you don't mind.

He was one of the referees (Koharski needs to be mentioned here) that loved calling penalties left and right. I always thought he tried too hard to make a name for himself in games...
My favorite referee was Walkom. Most here don't remember him doing his job and that is why I consider him a good referee.:handclap:
O'Halloran was solid as well.
I also respect Bill McCreary for his mustache

I agree, but rational discussions never work in the selling department...

McDonaugh pushed Toffoli several seconds before the goal was scored. Toffoli made no effort to get out of the way after that, and he had time to do so. It probably shouldn't have counted.

That said, glad it worked out in the Kings favor. They rarely do.

I'm sorry but Lundqvist could've made the save. There was a highway free to his left side. Calling it a no goal because Toffoli didn't get out of the blue paint quicker (what is this, the NBA with a 2 seconds violation?) would be something new in the idiotic department...

Just saw the goal again. It was literally just over one second between TT entering the paint and the puck hitting the net.

Yeah... I understand why Foxy said it was basically a coin flip decision. Could have gone either way, but given the lack of argument from McDonaugh, he knew he was guilty.

The fact that it mussed Henrik's temper was just gravy.

Still hasn't forgotten Dwight King.

No love for Dan Marouelli?

What I felt was kinda telling that there was not any contact between TT and HL (during the shot) was that HL, who is very quick at pointing fingers and throwing up his arms and screaming at the ref while in tantrum mode, did not initially react to TT's presence in the crease immediately after the goal.
Normally with anything remotely close to contact, Queen Henrietta will scream in dismay protesting the call and he did not react at all, only the "ahh ****, I blew another lead against these ****** guys" reaction.
If the shot went to HL's right and he could not react to his right because of TT's presence, the call probably would have gone the other way.
Oh and F Fraser. Back in his day, he was a main contributor of why calls like that never went in the King's favor so no surprise that he feels that they got it wrong. I know which way he would vote without him even opening up his mouth.....
