Also, what the **** happened to Stamkos? The guy doesn't look elite any more at all...

Our board has been slowly turning on him since last year. At this point he's a good player with an elite shot asking for cheat code levels of money that he is just not going to get for the on-ice product we've seen since the beginning of last season.

Good win just need to keep it up. This is our second longest road trip of the year. Kind of scary to think 6 games isn't the longest but have a 7 game for the Grammy trip in Feb.

Stamkos is good but I'm starting to think this guy is the product of one Martin St. Louis. -3!

Does it coincide with St. Louis moving on, or is it more complex than that?

I knew he was in trouble after watching the finals last year. Dude was invisible.

McNabb continues to struggle on the top pairing... He just may not have the speed. :naughty:

For a guy that is in basically his 2nd full season he's not doing bad. If you would have told me he would have even been able to try and play first pair minutes a year ago I would have laughed. He's growing into the job much like Muzzin did. He's still got away to go. But when we are the number 2 D team in the league I not going to complain.

this is going to be a tricky set of games

i'm guessing that Enroth gets 2 starts (Buffalo for sure)

very excited about this trip, it's not an easy trip but it'll define the group

i'm thinking we're going 4-2 but if we go 3-3 or even 2-4 i wouldn't be too disappointed

Eh, there's a number of factors. MSL leaving didn't help, but he started playing differently. Before the start of last season there was an interview or two where he talked about trying to round out his game a la Yzerman and become a more complete player. He spent most of last year floating around doing nothing looking totally confused. He constantly tries to be a playmaker but his passes are terrible.

The amount of time he has spent playing with the likes of Alex Killorn and Ryan Callahan aren't helping matters, either, but we're pretty sure (even though no numbers have come out of either the FO or from his agent) that he wants the Kane/Toews money. Gotta be a winner to get that contract. At least that's how we feel.

GG, good luck with the rest of your season.

2-4 should be considered a failure. There's 3 games against bottom teams that should be won. Then 3 that could be won. Only 1 game against a team above us in the standings. Which makes this ripe for playing to the opponents level trip. We shouldn't settle for anything less than 3-3 and really should be looking at 4-2 or better. That's only stealing one game against a team likely to make the playoffs.

I love McNabb's game. It isn't always pretty, but he's getting it done. Also one of the cheapest contracts on the team.

I promise we'll lose that game against Buffalo. Because I'll be there.

what, no 5 page Hedman elbow to Cliffords head thread on the mainboard?

Well he's a 4th liner on the Kings and the Kings are dirty/classless/overrated so even if he didn't do anything he had it coming obviously and we're lucky CLIFFORD doesn't get suspended for trying to chip Hedman's elbow with his teeth.

Yeah, he's had speedbumps, especially against the absolutely elite talent and speed, and Doughty obviously has to do most of the heavy lifting, but we're getting results. Obviously he's not there in a perfect world--maybe someday he is, but not now--but him being functional there is allowing Muzzin and Martinez to flourish. The balance works for me. Plus, my god, that backhand pass to carter was fantastic. Like Muzzin, he's clompy on his feet and hands match, but they're almost cut from the same cloth it seems.

Eichel first career hat trick and whatever plug they have in net gets a shutout. #RP5

Plus I never feel good in Montreal, and with a team penalized as heavily as we are...I get the feeling we get up to 8 PKs there.

And then there's good ol Pitt, where we'll outshoot them 40-20 and lose 5-1 because Sutter decides Andreoff is gonna get his minutes Malkin and Crosby be damned

Don't even know what to expect hope we get a few points .500 would be good with me. These teams always plays us well in their own place.

Great way to close out the homestand though, can't emphasize that enough. Back to back dominant wins against two elite-skill opponents with our centers looking every bit up to the task against Crosby/Malkin/Stamkos/Johnson et. al. Hope we can take this same show on the road!

@ CLB - Win.
@ PIT - Win.
@ BUF - 1-0 Loss
@ OTT - Coin toss.
@ MTL - Loss.
@ TO - Shootout win.

Karlsson has 5 goals but is a minus 6 for the game and Kings beat Ottawa in regulation.

Karlsson seals the deal for the Norris for all the NHL beat writers that go to bed at 10:30 p.m. EST.
