Karlsson has 5 goals but is a minus 6 for the game and Kings beat Ottawa in regulation.

Karlsson seals the deal for the Norris for all the NHL beat writers that go to bed at 10:30 p.m. EST.

Karlsson played 33(!) min tonight--his team's entire powerplay time and ZERO shorthanded time. No production.

Doughty played a paltry 30 min including 3.5 on the powerplay (2nd most on team) and 4:45 shorthanded (by far most on the team) while garnering an assist and a +2.

Tell me again about your all-situations defenseman.

After tonight this team is in the top half of the league in every major stat but FO%.
And G/F and PP% are the only reason you have to go to top half. Every other stat is top 5 GA/G PK% shot and shots against/G.
And they are doing it with a PDO of 98.7% which is bottom third.

This is all great news. The team is doing it but not having numbers that are unsustainable.

I just hope we continue to quietly collect points, but please, no more main board threads about how well we're doing. Let others be oblivious.

McNabb reminds me more and more of Willie Mitchell as he continues to develop. Getting contributions all over the ice from guys like Shore and Andreoff has been critical for this team during the homestand.

Also, hard to believe so much time has passed. 8 years of Quick:

He was glorious tonight.

I was at that game and will never forget it. Not really because of Quick's performance but because the score and the kings were awful. I also happened to join a coworker for the game who had free tickets because of a Colorado college alumni event that Tom Preising was hosting. Afterwards there was a meet and greet and I'll never forget hanging out in the Lexus club after and quick was hanging out with Zeiler looking like the odd men out. Never would've thought he'd be one of the redeemers of this franchise. I think that was the year they went through eight goaltenders.

No one is talking about the Kings. Tune in to Hockey Central and it's all Canada, all the time. I know they are Canadian-based but Jesus, at least they devoted SOME time to teams in the USA last season.

I'm good with being transparent. Kings have quietly placed 5th in the league after tonight's win.

Doughty will be a plus 3, with a goal and an assist and nobody will notice.

They were terrible last week with all the bias. They spent 3 full shows on Bernier and the kid they called up. They may have even had a goalie psychologist talk for 10 minutes about him.:shakehead

Well he's a 4th liner on the Kings and the Kings are dirty/classless/overrated so even if he didn't do anything he had it coming obviously and we're lucky CLIFFORD doesn't get suspended for trying to chip Hedman's elbow with his teeth.

If it's not posted there it NEVER happened.

If you're winning Norris trophies you might want to try pk-ing every once in a while. "But there team just has better penalty killers than Karlsson " is such a BS excuse. I'm glad the Kings don't use stupid excuses like that.

Doughty was so ****ing good tonight, there's no question of who I'd rather have if I had to choose between him and Karlsson.

Great game all the way around. Every player on the Kings team playing their role and playing it well.

The whole Toronto thing is way overdone. It's like listening to 710 here about the Lakers. How much can you really say about Kobe and a team that has won 3 times in 20 games?

They are catering to a Canadian audience and in particular a Toronto market. I get that. But as you said, digging down into the minutiae of Bernier's brain is going a bit overboard.

Did you notice how they avoided the whole Sparks thing when he got lit up in his second game?

Oh and the Rangers went 2 for 2 on the power play in that game. Huh.

I just peeked over in that thread and wow, you all aren't kidding about the hero worship.

You know, I did notice Stamkos is trying to play a 200 ft game - he broke up a couple of Kings plays when he was backchecking, but I was mostly impressed how tight Tampa seemed to grip their sticks on the powerplay: passes too hard, one-timers flubbed, etc.

I thought it was the polar opposite of the Kings when we were having problems--instead of being easily readable by going around the outside for the eventual shot from the point, TB's was easily readable in that they were trying to force-feed Stamkos one times and attempting seam passes on every attempt. I mean, if any of them get through there's a high likelihood of a goal so there's that, but it was easy to read, even at home.

Doughty

Look at him. He looks much sharper.

What pic is from this season ?
