If you repeatedly fall down, maybe you shouldn't be in those situations.

Yep, hell we used to make excuses here (yeah, not all of us) about why JMFJ would always be minus forever. He was like the unluckiest player on the planet. It's just less exhausting to just accept maybe he's not good at defense or maybe he's not having the affect on his partner and linemates that a good defender does when he's out there. And our Captain, dude just can't skate. We accept that now. If he falls down 5 times a game, it ain't bad ice. Same thing with EK, it's always someone else's fault why a crapton of goals get scored against the Sens when he's out there. As the great Raylan Givens would say in regards to blaming everyone else around you "If you run into an ***hole in the morning, you ran into an ***hole. You run into ***holes all day, you're the ***hole."

Those are words of wisdom there.

Among other topics, lots of praise for Vinny in this 18-minute interview with a Montreal radio station.

Since the Lecavalier trade, only Kopitar and Pearson have more goals than Lecavalier. Toffoli and King are tied with him at 5.

Didn't 4 of those come within about 10 days shortly after the trade all on the PP?

Yeah, and he hasn't scored in 13 games. Toffoli 2 in 19. Carter 2 in 20. Lucic 3 in 25. Brown has 3 goals in 59 games, if you don't include his 5 goals in 4 of the games against Arizona. Plus no Gaborik now.

13-9-2 since the trade though. Not great, not terrible. It's average, especially since they're having such a tough time scoring. The Kings are only going to go so far if Toffoli, Carter, and Lucic don't start doing a little more. Kopitar, Pearson, and those 3, then you have something to build on.

Carter having 2 in 20 is the most surprising one of those to me.

And Kopitar has 0 goals in his last 14 if you take away dates that end in 3 or when he scores 3.

I guess it's sort of a benefit of the doubt thing. The kid that gets A's on tests can get away with more than the kid who get's D's. Brown has basically not scored against anyone except Arizona this year. Of his 3 non-Coyote game goals, 1 was the 9th goal in the Boston game, 1 against Edmonton, and then a PS goal against Carolina.

You can do the same thing with Carter and Toffoli. Carter has 2 goals in the last 20 games, and 1 of them he wasn't even shooting the puck. Toffoli, 2 in 19, and one went off his leg when he wasn't even looking.

But Brown's struggles have been a multi-year thing now. The details become a little bigger. 8 goals, 5 against the Coyotes. I mean, they all count.

Don't discredit the PS goals, those are the ones he needs to score more of.

I'd expect Toffoli especially to break out of his funk any day now. Carter is surprising too but he was clearly hurt and is just starting to come back around.

Kopi set Toffoli up for a one timer in the slot last night off the rush. Scrivens saved it but at least it was a dangerous shot, I can't recall seeing many from Toffoili in the last few weeks.

Brown's not scoring enough. I've long held that his shooting percentage should rebound, but it just hasn't. That's a real problem.

But there's zero reason to exclude the Coyotes games to make him look worse. That was my point. 8 goals in 63 is just not enough. There's no reason to just drop the Coyotes games to unnecessarily make it look worse. Like saying a guy only scored in 1 game in 30 when he doesn't score one goal. Just trying to make the player look worse with misleading numbers.

The biggest sign of Carter's lack of health is his face-off percentage. He's been consistently reliable at the dot for a number of years now (I discount his first season w/us as he was primarily playing RW). This year of our regular face-off takers, he's doing the worst. That's been one of the surprising developments of the season for me. When we're used to all of our top 4 centers being over 50%. That was a red flag to me that something was wrong with his hand/wrist area.
