Lost in all those tears is the fact that the Kings outplayed the Oilers and that no-goal would've tied the game, not won it. People out there acting like that goals scored by McDavid are worth 2 and not 1. Hell, the NHL should create a new rule that McDavid should always get the benefit of the doubt when shooting. Oh and that penalty by Korpikoski was text book. The Kings have only been called for that same exact penalty like 10 times this season already.

"No dude, I took a screen cap of the play and blew it up 100x's, it's definately a goal"

Honestly, why can't the league put a transmitter in game pucks to determine if pucks go in like that? Seems like the Oilers got jobbed. In tennis they have the technology to track a 100 mph tennis ball to see if it grazes a line. In hockey they have cameras 100 feet away.

Oh well, good game anyway.

Tennis is able to do this because nobody is on or even near the line when they are using the system to make the call. This is on the serves. But while play is going they have a clear overhead view of almost every shot as well as a way to have a clear shot down the line no matter what. Where in hockey the players are in, on, and over the line. And having clear views just won't happen most of the time.
I know they talked about using some sort of chip tech but it threw the balance off the puck the last I had heard.
It was likely in but it was the right call under the rules. And as much as I would hate it if it went against us I don't want them guessing the puck is in. If they can't see it in and show that it is in then it's no goal. That is the way the rules are written and should be written.

Its not really that easy. What kind of "transmitter" would you prefer, and where would you locate it to not change the way a puck handles but get a fair read on the pucks angle, exactly position, ect..? What tolerance on your readings is acceptable?

If you can't answer, you have little room to criticize.

Pretty much. The entire surface area of the puck would have to be a transmitter. Varying puck angles would make it very difficult for a single chip in the center of the puck to definitely transmit that the entire puck was over the line. Tennis balls and soccer balls... are balls... which are spheres. Pucks are not spheres.

This is what's driving me nuts. People insisting there's some magical technology that every other professional leagues are using that gets every call right. Have these chumps not watched a single MLB or NFL game? Ridiculous.

Bring back the glow puck!

Exactly why it's so stupid to whine and cry about officiating in the GDT's.

We got a break, just like we got a break with the clock thing. We also got screwed with the netting, we got screwed a few years back when Smyth re-directed a shot in to tie the game late in Ottawa and it was disallowed.

The point is, it all evens out over the course of a year. Now please, posters here, take a look at how foolish people look on the mainboard the next time you want to whine about "biased" officiating

Yo, were the main boards this mad when the Wings scored that goal on us off the net and it still counted and we lost? I'm going say no. Hope the Oil miss the playoffs by 1 point.

I always remember Clowe's play from the bench and how everyone else just laughed it off. I guess it only wasn't funny to Kings fans.

Kings get screwed against San Jose in 2012, go on to win Cup that season.

Kings get screwed against Detroit in 2014, go on to win Cup that season.

All right with me. :)

well, aside from the tears, that's 5 straight for the boys and back in first place and 7 points ahead of the Ducks after only 8 games. Good times.

Sloppy win but 3 in 4 nights with travel and a mostly good performance, whatever. I'll take it.

Sure is nice to have the league in our pocket, though. I mean, that's the easiest explanation for the no goal. We've never been affected by more obvious things like a puck off the netting or a stick off the bench affecting PLAYOFF SEEDING or a stick higher than Hanzal's 6'6" head putting a puck in so obviously that's the easiest thing to figure out

LOVE Pearson with Kopitar, and Brown is gonna pot like 8 goals in 10 games when he finally breaks thru.

Lucic is starting to play the possession game and is even stronger than Kopi on the boards, my god watching him shed tackles like Gronk is fun.

McDavid is really something. I mean, the first goal was nothing special and wouldn't even get looked at twice if it wasn't him, but his speed and ability to cover so much ice was helping create for them all night. Definitely far and away their best player.

Hope no one ever complains about the Penner trade because Klefbom looked like a taller Peter Harrold out there.
