I know the head coach wants to protect his player from media scrutiny, but Mike Babcock's post-game interview bothered me since he claims Polak *tripped* over Toffoli and they fell into the boards.

He also added that the onus was on Toffoli since he chose to turn and put himself into a vulnerable position. Which to some point is true, but it makes me wonder if he would remain consistent and say the same thing if it was one of his own players that was on the receiving end.

Doesn't that part sound a bit like a Sutter-ism, though? The rest of it is a bit fishy, but a head coach is never going to throw his guy under the bus (and rightfully so). It's not like the league is going to look at what Babcock thinks of the hit before it makes a decision anyways.

Come to think of it, Matt Cooke is the only guy I can think of who's forced a coach to admit it was a dirty, suspendable play. Back when Pitt was trying to simultaneously "get head shots out of the game" by pushing that agenda at GM meetings whilst still employing Cooke.

He should've gotten two for holding 5 and a game for that. That video makes it look much worse. It still blows my mind the ref watched the entire play and let it go.

This really is my favorite board for kings talk. I used to love LGK, then reddit, but I always end up back here. I was just blown away by the amount of people on reddit who thought that Doughty was at fault for the hit.

Not that I'm fully excusing them, but the Canadian TV feeds did not have the same angle as Fox Sports.

Their cameras were actually setup off to the side so the only thing they could see on their broadcast was Komarov and Doughty going down and then nothing as they were below the height of the boards. Next thing you see is the two of them going up the ice then Doughty taking the retaliation.

Jamie McLennan on Toronto 1050 was watching the Canadian feed and couldn't figure out what happened there so he switched to Fox Sports. Once he got a different perspective he said it crossed the line and was a dirty play on the part of Komarov.

Seems like this is the Leafs highlight of this season similar to Yakupov once upon a time scoring on the Kings in OT...
I love how ****** teams have to search for single moments of Joy versus the Kings, meanwhile our boys are embarrassing them by dominating and pining them in their own defensive zone for 57min of the 60 played...

But then again, our opponents love and need "moral victories".
