I can see Kings and NYR making a much smaller trade involving lesser prospects to fill a potential hole in the future since both teams have an abundance of prospects and you can't find space for everybody, but Laf - Turcotte won't be that deal.

Rangers aren't trade Laf unless it's a package for a sure thing. We know he hasn't developed the best. But we're not just handing out a #1 overall pick, regardless if other players in that draft end up the much better player.

I still think Kupari for Robertson is a trade that could happen.

I could be wrong, but isn’t it Machinehead who is a massive Turcotte fan? Maybe he could get behind this deal. It honestly does make sense if you take into account each teams needs, but that’s probably the only part of it that makes sense

It is surprising that of that legendary USNDP team, Turcotte ended up probably the least valuable of the 1st round picks

the only King who might be worth considering giving up Laf for is not available
IMHO, waste of time thread

You couldn’t get Byfield straight up for Laf from the Kings…
Different needs and I’m still not sure what the problem with Laf is, he can obviously score just needs a full season in the top 6..
Why? what has he done? He entered the league and was immediately put on PP1. And then? He may be great someday, but nothing has happened to make him more valuable than Laf.

Obviously you didn’t read my comment where I mentioned different needs.
The Kings need a replacement for Kopitar and that replacement is Byfield, they wouldn’t make that trade because of need and the fact that they strongly believe you build a team down the middle.. not sure why you Laf homers always cry when anyone makes a comment about him? Heck, my comment wasn’t even bad not aimed at him nor disparaged him.

Both havnt exactly been impressive….
Turcotte is pacing for 0 points in his nhl career
And laf is looking like yakupov

Hey now! Yak had two 30+ seasons during his entry-level contract. Doesn't look like Laf will attain that kind of success in his first 3 seasons.

I know this hurts, but it is true. Turcotte needs to show something soon because since being drafted, he has shown almost nothing.

He is 20 and LA takes their time when it comes to the kids. Too long at times but that’s how they do things. I know many fans think everyone drafted should be in the league by 19-20 but LA’s brass don’t operate like that.

NYR don't consider this. Boldy for Laf might give them pause, not that I think either team is contemplating such a deal.

Why? Because of his NHL and AHL dominance?

What exactly has Byfield done to surpass Lafreniere who was the vastly better prospect and the Kings would have 100% chosen if they were first?

When you say that Laf wouldn't get the Rangers Byfield you are disparaging Laf. If the fact that Byfield was a center gave him more value, he would have been the consensus #1 pick. Everyone needs centers, but Laf is the better prospect even today and the Kings would be silly not to make that trade at this point.

The Kings have who they want to build around, it’s as simple as that.

Turcotte is kind of small and I think his future in the nhl is likely at wing....
Rangers need a center.

LaF for Turcotte wouldn’t happen for a lot of reasons....

No, not at all. I didn't like him in the WSJs or as a Badger. He may be a good middle six forward, but not much more IMHO.
