What else do you expect from a kid who has played on the 3rd line for 3/4 of his short NHL career.

He had a better 1st season in the league than Jack Hughes.

Remember Jack Hughes....the 1st OA pick from the year prior who most called a bust and one of the of the worst 1st OA picks ever? But he doesnt seem like a bust after all. Amazing what giving a young kid time to develop can do.

on par/a little under for his deployment.
Dont forget the impact of covid on his 1st 2d 2 development seasons....
Then factor in the rangers don’t suck, so they aren’t just going to throw him out there for 20 min a night plus 1PP time and whatever happens, happens.....
LaF is coming along fine. He’s defensively responsible, doesn’t mind playing with a physical edge, and since being moved up to the first line, his numbers are increasing....
They will do so more next season when hopefully he takes over Stromes spot on the NYR 1PP.
Not every players development curve is linear.

pretty hilarious your labeling him a bust before he’s even 21 years old....
I’d wager he makes you eat some crow by the time he’s 22-23. Perhaps even next season
