Then and there
Bellingham was a non factor tonight, pretty much playing walking pace throughout the match, with little effort.

None of the Real Madrid players really tried much to win the match, but as it was all about Kroos farewell and waiting for the CL final, it's sort of understandable.

And in other Liga news, Almeria win today to get out of that bottom spot. Still relegated though. In the process Sergio Arribas bagged a brace taking him to 9 goals and 4 assists in 22 starts. His playing time was very mixed and inconsistent and he played a number of different positions this season. Curios to see where he ends up assuming Almeria sell, but I assume they’ll be obligated to.

In other stats news, Nico Williams adds another goal to his tally which leaves him with 5 goals and 11 assists in 29 starts. Helluva season for the kid and I can’t imagine someone not triggering his release clause assuming it’s the rumored 50 million.

One might wonder why Ancelotti didn’t make the rotations, but that’s generally not the case and a lot of players don’t like it. IMO it’s smart to play your starters.

Last match for Nacho as well. I’m more interested in where Juan Miranda ends up though. Likely his last match with Betis.

Entertaining first half for a neutral, but the quality of football still could be a bit better. Should be about 5-6 goals in total though.

Barca at least showing up and probably unlucky not to be up by a goal. Cancelo probably the best player so far, but Pedri is playing really well as he hit the bar, has had a header saved and been pulling some strings in the buildup.

As things stand I’d yank Gundogan and get a wide player out there.

Wow. Very nice goal from Fermin and he’s one of the best players out there today. This kid has cemented his place in the team overall. Nice touch that he celebrated with Xavi too.

Now Xavi being Xavi with his substitutions. Lewandowski pulled for… Ferran. Yamal, who also is playing pretty well, pulled for Felix. FFS pull Gundogan and put Felix in for him and put Vitor Roque on instead of Ferran.

I didn’t want to jinx it, but Barca Atletic have been in the promotion playoffs for the past how many weeks. They beat Ibiza in the first round but today succumbed to Cordoba in the away leg of the final tie. Fort scored a nice goal, but Cordoba’s winner was awful by Barca Atletic at the back. So they miss out on promotion by just a goal.

Espanyol is back in La Liga too, after winning a very long promotion play-off against Oviedo.
Good for them, i lived with a guy briefly who was a massive Espanyol fan. At the time he told me Melendo and Darder were going to be the next big things.

As for Espanyol, only relevance is we’ll contribute to them getting relegated next season.

Darder is good. Another name I’d throw out there is Pedrosa who did well for Sevilla considering he was rotated this season. That said, biggest thorn in our side in more recent times was Gerard Moreno.

Even though they're 6 guaranteed points for Real I like having our neighbours from Cornella around. Beats having ten teams from the Madrid area.

Real already's Mbappe's bitch.
He will be the FK taker. He has never scored a FK. In fact he's absolutely horrible at FK.

And yet, you are leaving the second part of that "report"... Vini is going to be the main penalty taker.

Seems like they are spreading the responsibilities around. But hey, that doesn't serve your agenda so... ;)

Sorry it doesn't change the fact they gave the FK to arguably the worst FK taker to please him (surely because he didn't get the PK).
So yeah sorry, it doesn't change the point at all.

With Kroos gone and Modric probably used a lot less who could take them for Madrid?

If we don't get the Lever Burger I'm going to be so disappointed

Oh, I agree Mbappé is probably not the best choice.

Your "spin" is what I disagree with. Carlo is clearly ego managing and making sure everybody is involved. That being said, I do not think the club is Mbappé's "bitch".

Bellingham? Valverde? Anyone really?

But when Enrique was ego managing PSG was Mbappe' s bitch remember?

Oh, PSG being Mbappé's bitch had nothing to do with Enrique and everything to do with the rumoured clauses he had in his last contract with them (penalties, insane bonuses). To be fair, those reported clauses about penalties and stuff like that were most likely bullshit.

He became bigger than the club. That won't happen at Madrid. Him being awarded the FKs is just a bad coaching decision, IMO. Valverde would have been my choice.

It's not just a bad coaching decision.
It's a decision to keep his ego in check.
Of course they are ego managing... which to me is Carlo's biggest strength. It would have been wiser to give him the penalties, but I guess they want to send Vini the message that Mbappé is not their to overtake his role.

Anyway, it is just a rumor at this point. Mbappé, Bellingham and many others just reported for training for the first time today. We'll see.
