The Draft is weak, really weak.

There is no way the Kings are going to end up a top five pick.

Trade that first rounder if it seals getting Landeskog.

I think the Kings would regret trading a Defender though, I also think The AV's wouldn't take A-Mart or Muzzin.

There will be better trade packages out there.

Um.... Kings have 44 points. 6th place has 40 points. A little slump and it's more then possible.

It's not going to end the season like that, especially if Quick comes back.

The lowest point total the Kings have finished with since 09-10 season is 95 points, minus the shortened season of course.

People really think this Kings team is a sub 75 point team ?

The Kings would have to pull off the worst second half to a season they have had in a decade. Even worse than last season's second half.

They're sitting 4-5 points out of that position. It's absolutely possible. Plus the draft %'s were redone, so Kings could be looking at a 5-7% on the draw even if they don't make it to number 5.

Man.... just read that the Kings have 2 scouts at the Buff/Philly game. Just hope Lombardi is looking to pick up solid pieces for the future and not wingers to try to patch problems for this season.

It would be so Lombardi to let Lucic walk and then blow a first rounder trying to fill the hole. :naughty:

Who's playing goalie...

Not looking forward to all the hindsight GMing over the next few years, that's for sure.

Funny you win two Cups in 2 years and we're all spoiled. Not one here will trade those 2 Cups for whatever situation we might find ourselves in now. And even then, we're not totally out of it this year yet.

Since 12' hockey has become fun for me again. I get to be a fan and you can never take away or replace those memories and sharing them with the people you love.

You guys think Avs fans fondly look back at the '96 and '01 Cup wins and forget about how crappy their current team is?

I wonder how long Kings fans will live in the past versus the present. I hope the management group isn't as content. If we are to hang our hats on championships from previous years, then Lakers fans shouldn't feel too down on the current state of that franchise.

It's nice to fondly look back at winning two Cups in three seasons, but I also can't forget that this team has won one single playoff game over the last two seasons, missing the playoffs entirely in 2015, with the possibility to miss the playoffs again this season.

That doesn't sit well with me, especially when looking at a team that is pressed against the cap. That is simply unacceptable.

There's nothing wrong with having higher standards. I had lower standards back when the team failed to win a single playoff game (let alone reach the playoffs) from 1994 through 2000.

This team should qualify for the playoffs, but they have underachieved greatly. Very few have exceeded or met expectations.

The large majority have been a disappointment and a significant reason why the team is struggling to find any consistency.

This season is also the first one since 09-10 where the Kings have fewer regulation wins than losses. Not that they've been regular season monsters, but they've been better than 11-17 in the W/L column.

The west as a whole being not as good as it has been helps, but the Kings are walking a fine line. If Carter falls back to normal, or Budaj's career year doesn't continue, what are they going to do? Figure Kopitar and all the rest get back to their normal, but we also hoped that when it came to Brown for a while. Maybe Kopitar's wrist doesn't get better this year.

I think 96 and 01 are a long time ago. The Kings aren't that far removed from the Cup, and a lot of the main guys that won it are still here. Asking this in 2030 would be the same as asking if Avs fans today think back to 2001. Which is, wow, frightening, because where is time going?

I think part of it is just accepting reality. The Kings have cap issues, some of it self imposed, and there's only so much they can do. They can keep trying for the Cup, but then people will complain about the deals for Sekera and Lucic. Sure, you can say instead of Lucic, they should've addressed the defense, but you can only work with what's out there. Sure, you can say well if nothing is out there, don't do anything until there is, but it's a hard cap world, and if you don't do something in June/July, you're basically stuck with what you have until the next trade deadline. Then it might be too late, and another year gets wasted without having tried anything.

I don't think anyone doesn't mind the last few seasons, but the shine of 2012-2014 hasn't completely worn off yet. Once more guys leave, or get traded, or retire, then the memory of the Cup won't stick around. The last couple years aren't helping though.

I'm a superfan but not a super-spoiled brat. I got what I wanted. Everything else is just gravy.

Where they might not almost every Canadians fan loves to point out they have won 24 Cups. Even if the last one was 24 years ago.
And almost every Yankee fan loves to point out their 27 World Series titles. And their last one was 8 years ago.
So it's very common to look back fondly on your teams in sports. And when the success of this franchise was not so long ago and was a very long time in the making I'd say very natural. We're only 5 years removed from the only true success this team has ever had, outside of 93 when they lost. And I know you were a fan back then but many around here weren't. I remember that run very well.

The Ducks will pay tribute to the 2007 Stanley Cup-winning team with a 10-year anniversary celebration at the Mar. 12 game versus the Washington Capitals. The final piece of the limited-edition four-piece bobblehead collection will be available for purchase in the Anaheim Ducks Team Store Powered by Reebok starting that evening. This night will feature players from the 2007 team as well as some additional surprises to help honor the run to the franchise’s first-ever Stanley Cup championship.

I think if you can fix the hole at LW for many years with a player like Landeskog you pull the trigger. The price is steep but you have to give to get. Then hope Vegas takes Brown or Gaborik and find a free agent defensemen who can play the 2-4 role every night and not get every shot blocked and continually use a head fake while standing still.

I'm not incredibly keen on trading Landeskog, but is Pearson and Muzzin a reasonable package to expect?

I think it is reasonable for Sakic to ask, but that it would be turned down. If LA included Pearson than we would still be left looking for another top 6 winger.

Muzzin is close in value but it is a seller's market so I think LA adds, but Pearson is too much of an add.

Muzzin, 2nd, King would be the highest I would go.

If Dean gave this package for Landy he should be removed from his position. This is a huge overpayment by LA and a deal that would turn out very bad for us.
