Trading Nick Holden to NYR last summer (for 4th rnd draft pick) was a stupid move by Sakic
So 3 of the Avs Pro scouts were at the Kings game last night?
And Brown scored.
So maybe they will think 2012 Brown is back
Iginla is an upgrade over Lewis and King in the top 6. He can still shoot...
That rumor is one I started hearing in early Dec, as Iginla is/was a Sutter guy. That his 'style' fits the Kings and it's akin to what DL has done historically over the past few years. First read it in a Globe and Mail article and the author mentioned the Oilers as well as Chiarelli likes him, traded for him and he played well with Lucic in Boston.
More recently, the Hawks were mentioned as Iggy wants to win a Cup and that is the type of player the Hawks have added at deadlines.
But the Kings would have to move out a 4 to 5M contract to make hat work, if Quick is coming off IR, Iggy makes 5.5 or so.
Iggy has an NMC but told the Calgary Sun he'd waive it for the right team for a chance to win the Cup.
So I wouldn't lose sleep over him coming to LA.
But food for thought...

One thing I was debating on posting was a rumor I heard. I was talking to a season ticket holder that I know speaks to Luc periodically who mentioned to me that the Kings are not expecting Quick back this season. Again, don't kill the messenger, just something I heard and debated on not posting since I do not have any other source to confirm or deny.

I'd bet Iginla ends up in LA too. Only problem is Colorado is going to have to retain salary which will make the price higher. Normally I would say a conditional 3rd + B prospect would do it but it might cost more with the salary retention (not that it matters to Colorado).
If DL makes a trade, I doubt it is prospects/picks for a rental since this team isn't really close to being a Cup contender.
Landeskog makes sense because he is young and has a lot of life left on his contract.
Not saying Iginla wouldn't be an option, but I can't imagine DL giving up high-value picks and/or prospects.
Also would not surprise me if Quick did not come back. Once they decided on no surgery, I haven't really wanted him to come back anyways. I'm very afraid of him coming back this year, hurting it again only to now have surgery and miss time next season as well.
I'm just as scared as anyone else of that, but I seem to recall them being VERY confident with this treatment route, even going so far to suggest that he'll come back better than ever--and they never suggested the timetable would be beyond February.
It wouldn't be a shocker to me at all if it took longer, though, especially to err on the side of caution with that prognosis.
The asking price right now is apparently a high end D man and a 1st round pick. Landeskog is a good player, kind of a first line second line tweener and a good leader, but if it includes a 1st round pick, them I say we bow out. I sure hope we are not interested in a 39 year old forward who averages 1 point every 4 games. No thanks. Sakic can ask for the moon right now until it gets closer to the deadline. He would be smarter to wait for the off-season if he is going to tear down the team.
