if it's PLD + Hellebuyck you'd have to think Iafallo, Vilardi, and Durzi would be the main pieces to get the cap to work.

I really don’t want PLD, full stop. Malcontent wherever he goes and likely has his heart set on playing for the Habs. This team doesn’t need someone that is unmotivated to be their best.
People were crying about the same thing with Eichel. I’m personally done listening to people bitch about players bad behaviors and missing out because of it. I think people should grow up and stop caring about the players decision making and potential attitude issues. They’re not killers so who cares.

People on our board were insufferable with the character assassination of Jack Eichel. And if Edmonton got a boon in taking someone like Evander Kane with his baggage. Kings can afford to take a chance at players.

Fair enough! I’d argue that with someone as talented as Eichel, the gamble makes much more sense to take. I don’t watch much of the rest of the league so I’m not really the voice to listen to, but PLD at best is Stumpel style guy which is not really moving the needle for me when thinking about the balance of the teams current assets and current needs.

PLD + Hellebuyck will cost 20 million next year.

Iafallo, Vilardi, and Durzi will cost about 10 million next year.

This kind of math does not work for me.

P.S. Hellebuyck is not really good playoff performer...

IF they make the deal for PLD and he comes in at 8 million (which I think is way way way too high, and I like him as a player) you gotta think Kopitar is gone or back at Edler type min deals 1 year at a time etc....so in that....scenario, it makes sense, they aren't sure on Byfield, replace Kopitar with PLD, and keep moving on.....

Why would the Kings be going after a winger when they need centers ?
PLD has taken about 1000 FO's a year for the since he was a rookie. Kempe has taken about 30. He's listed as a winger but it looks like he's playing C.

That could give them a top 9 of something like:
Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Dubois - Vilardi
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Pretty wicked top nine. Do they have the capspace? Grundstrom Durzi Lizotte and Iafallo cap = what Dubois will make salary wise. Either them 4 or Doughty would have to be moved to fit him in no?

You don't have to move any cap this year, to fit PLD in, well minor, he's not at 8MIL this year, it's NEXT year that it kicks in and you take Kopitars 10M off and replace it with PLD etc

How much is his cap this year? Its an rfa qualifying offer I think?

He's an RFA right now and apparently not interested in signing anything other than a long term deal.

You are right, it's 6 Million for a QO....I thought he had one year left on his deal......I was wrong, you've got to convince him to sign for a year, then take a big contract, to fit him in...otherwise it won't work.

Yep, I was wrong, I thought he had one year left and then became a RFA

Isn't he an RFA with arbitration rights whos qualifying offer is $6M?

You don't KNOW how much cap you have to move out to bring PLD in.

Yea it would be tough to squeeze that cap into the team especially if you want to keep that top nine intact that was posted above.

Could he sign a qualifying offer now and then get extended after July 1st? Lower the cap next year and then have an 8 year deal kick in? Is that allowed?

Vegas one win away from the cup, so I’m not surprised the Kings are featured in premium rumors. The only surprise is that Chicago isn’t the top rumored trade destination with them about to draft #1.

I doubt PLD moves to the Kings. It’s too superficially good for Blake to win a bidding war. His strength is shoveling deep shit as effectively as possible. I give him credit for his yeoman like dedication to carrying Luc’s water.

The Chycrun saga is evidence that Rob isn’t prepared and ready to go all in for real. Arizona refused to take Petersen, so plan B was the lower ceiling LD at the cost of a franchise legend.

So he’s not going to shake up the roster for a 1 year all in move if it isn’t put on a warm plate for him. Which doesn’t happen outside of the fantasizing done by purple koolaid fiends.

For that reason, all of Byfield, Vilardi, and Clarke should be completely and totally off the table. A first round pick should also be completely off the table in my opinion. The only way an asset like that goes the other way should be if Hellebuyck is included in the deal and we'd need to put together a massive package to get that done obviously.

I think you realistically could acquire PLD for a a couple draft picks and maybeeeeeee a B level prospect. Then sign him to a 1-2 year deal. If the Kings really do want to try to win another cup with Kopitar and Doughty, this would give them a pretty solid chance of doing that.
I don't see how you are getting PLD without one of Byfield, GV or Clarke would go in the deal. You are not getting PLD straight up for Byfield. We're also not flush with picks -- we have no 1st round pick this year and no 2nd next year. The likelihood we get him for a quantity type deal with our limited picks seems very low even with his baggage & a high priced extension needed soon. We're going to need some low priced young salary guys like Spence, AK34, Pinelli, Bjornfot, etc. to fit in the limited cap space. My guess is either GV or Byfield would go (among others).

What in the world......Chycrun Saga was ALL Phoenix........how in ...what?

PLD could potentially be a player you can have for "cheap" in terms of trade assets. He supposedly doesn't intend to sign with Winnipeg. Teams not in attractive markets won't trade for him since he's already asked for a trade twice. His playoff performance might scare some other teams off. Montreal probably isn't looking to move a lot of assets since they're rebuilding.

The biggest hurdle would probably be to fit his salary if he's looking for 8-9M. That's where I struggle to see how the Kings are a good fit.

As long as we're throwing crazy theories out there, maybe someone put the Kings as a name out there just to try to up the offer from Montreal.

That’s not true at all. Kings would have to move significant cap to make space for his salary for this year if they plan on re-signing Vilardi.

Blake sure is entertaining.

E. Lindholm would be my first target. Oh look, main board thread saying Lindholm, Hanafin & Toffoli are going to be extended before the season starts or traded. Guess they're not doing the Johnny Hockey thing again.

Upgrading from Lizotte to PLD is huge.

MTL: they aren't offering Suzuki, Caufield or Dach. Their 1st this year is a no. What do the King's have to beat? Dvorak & Anderson?

WPG wants players that can impact now. Know ngs need to shed players with salary & play the Kaliyev, Fagemo, Kupari, Grundström & &? Who am I forgetting? Oh yeah! JAD.
