New name everyday.

Not really a fan of PLD’s antics, but if he signs on the line then at least you know he wants to be here.

At this point PLD is best case scenario what you hope Byfield becomes.

f*** it, go get PLD and Wilson. I've long been on the all-in train while Kopitar and Doughty are legit.

Plus Kopitar will likely get a pay decrease after this year. I'd rather see that cap used on guys like those two over a bum like Matthews.

The good thing about Dubois is he's 24 (actually turns 25 later this month), and he's been a pretty consistent 20+ goal and 60+ point producer, and still has plenty of productive years ahead of him. Not to mention he also has great size and can take on the top LW spot, enabling the team to keep Byfield at his natural position where we all hope he'd excel at.

I like PLD, but I don't think we are one scoring winger away and I don't know how in the hell they would find the money. I don't think the LA weather is going to change his attitude either :P

Chara, Gaborik, Drury, Briere, Hossa, Luongo.

Yeah, Lombardi seriously pursued Chara, Brad Richards, and Kovalchuk. The rest he never got close on. Drury was a prototypical Lombardi player, though.

Chara would've been a hell of an addition back then and changed the course of Kings history. They likely don't finish second to last in 2008 with Chara and therefore never draft Drew Doughty.

A player who asked to be traded twice? No thanks.
From Columbus and Winnipeg (2 teams that have had lots of player's asking to be traded from), Carter was traded from Philly (Dry island ring a bell) and Columbus, he did want out of both of those places too.
Would need to have a meeting with PLD before any trade talks though.

That, and they probably talked to Gavrikov about PLD as well to get more insight....

Carter was ticked that he was traded from Philadelphia after signing a very long deal. He never asked to be traded from there.

You cant really get them with Kopitar and Doughty taking that much of the cap. A combination of Iafallo Danault Moore and Arvidsson would have to come off the books then you have holes elsewhere. Danault and Moore just signed so cant see them being moved. PLD will get a salary equal to both Iafallo and Arvidsson combined so still no money for Wilson.
Im all for getting Dubois and Wilson but Doughty or Kopitar may have to be moved for that so their window you are talking about is moot.

carter did not want out of philly, he just signed a gigantic contract, and that lumbus team was a total upheaval of the team, not carter "wanting out"

aside:

Danny Briere of the Flyers joined host Joey Vendetta on Sportsnet Radio 590 and was asked if the "Dry Island" thing was blown out of proportion? Said Briere:

"You hit it right on the nose when you said people were trying to make a bigger story out of it. It really wasn't much of a deal. Our coach came in and said, 'I'm not drinking, I'm trying to lose weight, I'm not drinking for the next month. If you want to join me, put your number on the board.' Nobody was forced, and we had about half the team that was on it and half the team that weren't.
"It certainly wasn't a big deal to anybody. It was just a commitment to better yourself for a few. Some guys do it that way, some guys do it in the gym, some guys do it after practice — we all have our ways. It certainly wasn't a big deal to us.
"The person who got that out there created a big riot for nothing. I felt bad for Mike and Jeff for being thrown under the bus like that, because it certainly wasn't a big deal."

They aren't legit anymore. Did you not just watch the playoffs? They were absolutely dominated by Edmonton. They aren't good enough to be the best players on a contender anymore.

But sure, keep cramming mid-range players into the cap and wonder why mid-range results are the best they can offer.

Gotta imagine Byfield is going the other way. It'll probably have to be Byfield or Vilardi (or Clarke who I highly, highly doubt the Kings trade).

Jets fan here - Dubois was dominant for the first half of last season, pacing for just under 100 points. Fell off a cliff around the 50 game mark and got injured for several games, never really getting back to his early season form

If he can play like that all year and stay healthy you might have the best 1-2-3 center depth in the league if this deal happens
