Speculation: LA Kings Offseason Thread

I'm not against the idea. At least he is a tough guy who can back it up and he can actually contribute offensively. But there's several concerns. Pending UFA entering his 30s, hasn't played a full season in several years, Caps would ask for the moon for him with our assets trending downwards, our PK is shit and him taking undisciplined penalties would hurt us.

But adding him would certainly help balance out the lineup.

Good luck trying to move contracts like Iafallo and Moore. You could put them on waivers and they might not even get claimed.

Wilson has a recent ACL injury.

Players of Wilson's ilk usually burn out more quickly than others.

Hard to see Blake moving out enough cap to get Wilson, and presumably sign him and still acquire a goalie that isn’t from some beer league. Unless they’re sending Vilardi back the other way which I wouldn’t like.
 
Kings have plenty of assets to move to land Wilson.

We have too many forwards making 4 million. Dump one of them along with one of the guys make over 1 like Grundstrom and Lizotte.

Its already crashed and burned, we have been watching the same footage of dudes poking through the wreckage for 8 years.

If it takes out one of our 4 million a year forwards and Durzi as part of the package I am up for it. Bjornfot seems to have fallen out of favor here as well.

Love Wilson but he is a $5.2 mil a year UFA. Very much shades of Lucic. He is also prone to lengthy suspensions.

I would really want to talk extension prior to any trade. Does he move the needle enough to make us contenders this coming year? I say 3C and 1G need to be filled first. If they hand 3C to Byfield I am good with that but we need a 1G still to let this team have a shot.

Moore - Danault - Kaliyev
Fiala - Byfield- Wilson
Grundstrum- Lizotte - Kupari

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Roy
Seeler - Clarke

That's kind of my point. It's not worth it at all and it totally mortgages the future on 'what ifs' as we just get older and more expensive.

But if we're going to go full Dave Taylor, at least Wilson will bring the circus to town.

Durzi had 5-6 fighting majors in the past few years and was the only player pushing back or chirping players when Lemieux and McEwen wasn’t playing.

That’s what a team wants. A guy who is going to face wash another and even up a penalty.
