totally agreed....he has size and willingness- but foot speed and skating not even close to being NHL level.
I’m no pro scout by any means, but I sort of see him as a big guy who doesn’t have the “toolbox” to make those shortcomings work, either.

Gotta anticipate the play a bit if he wants to use his size at that lumbering pace, and he just seems to be a step or two behind the level of decisiveness that he needs.

Like I said, he is a moonshot.

Thomas and Turcotte need to get healthy, and stay healthy, which is a big ask at this point.

Helenius is a moon shot at this point. If he was only 5’11”, nobody would give a shit about him as a prospect.
Thomas and Turcotte need to get healthy for sure.

I watched both of them playing in AHL for few years.

In my opinion Turcotte can be difference maker for Kings while Thomas never will.

In my view his foot speed is not good, but his skating is actually good.

Although he was skilled I wouldn’t class Gaborik as a ‘skill player’. He was much more about speed, getting open and finishing. At his best I would put him above Fiala but they aren’t the same type of player in my mind.

Completely agree about his 2014 play-off performance, he was huge for us.
Yeah, that's a great distinction. Gaborik was closer to Carter than Palffy. Fiala has the small area elusiveness and "puck-on-a-string" handling ability that Palffy was elite at.

I really hope Akil Thomas beats out one of Grundstrom, Lizotte or Lewis - two of them were bad in the playoffs and the other is way past his prime.

I have a dreams of a Thomas-Helenius-Turcotte line next year. Fingers crossed.

Kings had a lack of RH forwards but now they have Fagemo, Laferriere and Thomas. Gotta make room for those guys soon….

I would move Moore asap. Kings RW as they stand are Kempe, Arvidsson, Lewis and Kayilev.
Woah now, I know you aren't talking about my boy Lewis!

;)

Bud crawford new unified champ at 147lbs would make the kings the toughest in the leauge. And growing up in omaha he can probably skate. With our development team...

Ok, Hear me out. Does anyone think a young cheap player could breakout in camp & make a player like Arvidsson available?

Anyone?

It’s always possible. There’s only a few guys that might force the issue to some degree namely (Fagemo, Lafferierre, Thomas, Chromiak) but I don’t think its likely.

I’ve included Thomas as he’s dealt with very specific injury issues, it’s not like it’s a catalogue of different issues like Turcotte (Which is why he’s not on my list). So if he’s fully recovered then ‘maybe’ he could force his way onto the roster. It’s then need someone like Grundstrom or JAD to show they’ve taken a step also to move up the lineup … and so on. So I don’t think it’s be any single player but instead a number of guys stepping up a level, to then use Arvi or Moore to strengthen elsewhere.

I think more likely we are probably set before the season starts, although the right player availability changes that. We will then see how camp and the first half changes things because it’ll take a mid season call up and a player then taking that chance to change things.

Uhhh...

- signed,
Brandt Clarke, Jordan Spence, Tobias Bjornfot
Can Clarke go to AHL? If not, he's up with team. Spence doesn't need waivers so no spot on 21 man roster. Björnfot needs waivers so he's probably up.

Don't see those guys play effecting wether they're up or not outside of someone failing really badly.

Nope, Arvidsson was always more likely to be re-signed than dealt.
Just a crazy idea that popped in there. A kid steps up & Kings can avoid this 100k cap space issue for the year.

Clarke can play in the AHL this year. My comment was more about Clarke, Spence, and Bjornfot not making Walker, Durzi, Edler, etc available after camp last year.

Just looking at the situation with Philadelphia and Ivan Fedotov, if he comes over and plays decent I can see the Flyers moving Hart next offseason. Wonder if the Kings will look into that. Hart will be a rfa and Flyers have Fedotov, Ersson, Peterson, Bjarnson and Kolosov with only Fedotov needing a new contract.

They should move him as soon as someone matches their asking price if this happens. There has been rumors that he is available.
