I really hope this team just goes full 2012

down to starting slow enough to get a TM shitcanned and a new coach who turfs some useless vets and gets the most out of new callups Turcotte and Fagemo while landing Hellebuyck at the deadline and nuking the world in the playoffs

If we move out Arvidsson, we can afford Hellebuyck at 50% retention.

Byfield - PLD - Fiala
Turcotte - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Kaliyev
Fagemo - Lizotte - Lewis

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Clarke
Bjornfot - Roy

alot of the drama for me this offseason (after pld of course) is what in the hell we're going to wind up with for a tv deal. i really like nic taking over play by play and having an extra voice in the booth maybe will make fox shut up.
but other than than that, projection for next season is: yawn.
about as positive as i can get about it given the present management.
i look forward to being able to watch hopefully.

Making a big move to acquire an older, expensive goalie makes zero sense when we're still the softest team ever. No team that soft will win the SC -- until the league outlaws fighting and all rough/tough hits. So what's the point? Unless you also trade for Wilson, it's a move that maybe gets you one series farther. Then you either have to pay huge to keep Hellebuyck or lose him for nothing.

Yawn cot'd.
Cap strapped, lack of cojones, rittich, talbot, copley. Everybody keeps thier jobs and gets paid. Surfs up.

In a way, the 2023-24 season will be underway next week.

The first tournament of every new season is the Hlinka Gretzky tournament. No Kings prospects are playing in it... that we know of. Because this features players eligible for NEXT year's draft, and younger.

Jakob Dvorak and Hampton Slukinsky played in it last year. So, if you watch it, you may watch a future Kings prospect in action.

I am hoping to save as much video as possible and do a better job on my project than last year. So, hopefully I'll get additional video myself. But of course, just wanted to alert those interested.

I don't know if it will be on tbe NHL Network, but looks like it will be on TSN.

Hoven was on with Boomer Gordon on NHL/Sirius. (Yeah I know how a lot of you think about Hoven, just listen...).
Highlights:
--Anderson-Doughty, Gavrikov-Roy, Bjornfot-Clarke to start
--Spence will be 7th defenseman in AHL as Kings carry 6 defensemen. No back-to-back on the road until December, so Kings will be doing a lot of paper transactions to maneuver around the cap
--Quick's transition to Petersen was very difficult as Quick was very competitive in handing over to Cal and it got in Cal's head

For me, the problem with Hellebuyck (or essentially any other legit #1 goalie) is more so what they'd have to give up in order to make it work.

As you said, they'd need to move a player like Arvidsson. That's a big loss, especially seeing as the Kings are already out a number of players from last year.

To acquire a goalie like Hellebuyck, even as a rental, you're also likely going to have to give up multiple picks/prospects in the process... ESPECIALLY if you're expecting salary to be retained. The Kings have already traded quite a lot of picks and prospects in last few years... Feels like it would be a mistake to do even more of that for a goalie. Goalies are really unpredictable in the NHL. Even the best of the best can have underwhelming performances come playoff time that lead to 1st/2nd round exits (See Shesterkin and Vasy last year).

Just doesn't seem like the right move.

So hoven blames quick for peterson's issues ?
Hmmmmm.

Going to disagree here.

Clarke/Spence-Englund will be the third pair and Bjornfot will be healthy scratch.

Yup, coming out of camp and barring injuries, Spence has the least amount of organizational leverage to force his way onto the opening night roster. Biggest symptom is he’s too valuable as 1D in Ontario to be a healthy scratch at Crypto.

The tea leaves read Englund / Bjornfot and Clarke. If you ignore draft position, the clear winner is Englund. I don’t care if Spence and Bjornfot play every preseason game as a pair and set records. Neither play opening night barring injuries or trades at D.

I’m open to Englund coming out of nowhere to bring the ruckus. Anything is better than watching Edler act like the horse who should have been shot a week ago.

The Kings have 0 balls without Englund and Fiala/PLD/Doughty like to stir things up - so someone will need to back them up.

I'm going out on a long shot here and also thinking that Hayden Hodgson makes a push for a spot on the 4th line. He's basically a bigger version of Lemieux. He's a right shot who can play physical and fight if he has to. Can't be any worse than McEwen.

If the Kings send Englund down this might be the softest roster since I've been a fan - 30 plus years ago.

The Kings won't have one player to drop the gloves.

The four teams with less fighting majors than the Kings ALL added tough players.
