I dont get where all the Bjornfot hate comes from. I played nearly a full season 2 years ago, suffered a concussion and got paired with Durzi on his return and ate a lot of -1s trying to cover for him.

I can only assume blake put him in the AHL to keep his contract down for the cap crunch that was coming. Hes a very solid defender

I know many of us are penciling in Mikey Anderson to be Drews partner but doesn't-

Bjornfot - Doughty
Anderson - Clarke
Gavrikov - Roy

Make more sense? Reunite Toby and Drew since they had some really good chemistry a few years back.
Yeah, not sure that works or even should be a thought… Drew is not who he once was and really benefits from having Mikey there. Not to mention Mikey is a top 10 defensive Dman. Once Clarke establishes himself in the league, Mikey should move over and be his partner but we’re not there yet

I see you completely missed all the fights before then lol

Bjornfot is probably one of the players I'm most interested in watching next year to be honest.

I know the last year or two have been underwhelming / potentially concerning, especially given how poised/solid he looked as an 18/19 year old. But I think the potentials still there for a pretty damn solid defensive defenseman.

Toby will still only be 22 for essentially all of the 23/24 season. Personally, I love the fact that they signed him to a 2 year deal. Wouldn't be surprised if he takes a step forward next season. Also wouldn't be surprised if he plays most of the year in the AHL, but I'm just interested to see what the outcome will be.

I feel like if he can just be really solid as a 3rd pairing guy for us, that's still huge.

If Bjornfot can add some flavor to his game rather than being the most boring unimpressive defenseman I’ve seen since Ellerby then he will have a job. God forbid these young kids throw a hit. Feel like so many Swedes forget they were Vikings.

Bjornfot given a chance for a starting Kings LHD spot -- lol. Some of you are so cute and adorable.

Isn't Bjornfot waiver eligible this season? I don't think he would make it through waivers, he is a former 1st rounder with a decent amount of games played at the NHL level who could probably play pretty easily on a non-contenders third pair.

I was a big Bjornfot fan after his 2nd pro season, but there was just no growth the last couple of seasons, in what should be an age where a young player really establishes themselves. I think best case scenario he is a Trevor Lewis caliber player on the blueline, which isn't awful, but is certainly disappointing based on him being an NHL regular at 19.

If the Kings like him, they have a narrow window to sign him. This is how they got Martin Jones.

If only there was a system in place that would enable you to annually obtain the top 17-18yr old goalies and then teach them while they grow into professional players so that you have a steady stream of potential NHL goalies available. But alas, it seems there is only trades and getting guys off the street like Copley, etc. This is something the NHL should really look at and try to implement for teams.

2023 4th: Hampton Slukynsky
2020 4th: Juho Markkanen
2019 3rd: Lukas Parik
2018 6th: Jacob Ingram
2017 3rd: Matt Villalta

It’s not so much that we haven’t drafted them. It’s just that once we do, they no longer even become serviceable AHL guys. The f*** happened? Can Imoo repent and come back?

2021?
2022?
And 2018 being a 6th rounder is almost like an undrafted guy.
Not one time we picked a guy higher than the 3rd round -- even though the goalie depth was horrendous...and they knew it too because they wanted to pick a goalie in the 1st round in 2021.

But i agree that even the guys they did draft -- bad. So either the scouting is off or their development is off (sound familiar...one exception being Dmen)

He would have to pass through waivers yes.

He could be Blake's version of Hickey. Gets taken in the first round largely because of his smooth skating stride. He should develop an offensive game, as he has the attributes of a PMD, but doesn't. Is a bit undersized. Doesn't really do anything above average. We lose him on waivers for nothing.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

The problem with BabyBjorn is he was drafted with a fully mature game that is mediocre. Okay at most things, but not above average at any one thing. Not big, not fast, not assertive, not risky, not physical. Never gonna be more than a #6 until he develops something worth watching.

Players like him have kind of turned me off to keywords on prospects that normally I’d have been ok with in the past. Does everything right, safe pick, two way player. God damn does drafting every player with those in their draft profiles lead to you not having any impact players…

I think we are undervaluing Björnfot. He was doing well until that injury in 21/22 and since then he hasn’t had a consistent run in the team. He’s played within himself, trying too hard not to make a mistake and he rarely had the right partner. He’s very young still and will only just start having his man strength come in. I’m not suggesting he will be a top 3 D man but I still think he has untapped potential and will reach #4/5 level.
