This is Byfields year. Either he will bust tremendously with the help of players like Kopitar. Or he will explode like a cannon. Either or we will know what we have with him by the end of this season and it will put to bed all the arguments.

BLuc’s overpaid league of international gentlemen leaves no room for team toughness under the cap. You can’t inject a couple of tweener hard nose players into the bottom six and expect the world. Especially when your toughest everyday players are Kempe and Durzi.

God bless Danault, Gavrikov and Mikey. But it’s too much money for too low a ceiling. They get the minutes and money of Richards, Mitchell and Scuderi. But their press billings don’t add up to results on the ice for the Kings. Another instance of Rob Blake’s futility when it comes to aping success.
Danault, Gavrikov, and Anderson are three of the contracts I’m least worried about.

So another teenager in the AHL (it’s been so successful before!) or is he going to play in WHL and actually be able to reach max potential?

Having a teenage defenseman with some pro experience isn’t as awful as having forwards with no pro experience, but it seems the WHL or a loan back to his team in Czech would be best for his ceiling.

But it seems there is always a preference to learn the system asap, even if it means limiting the long-term potential.

What does this mean for Dvorak?

Not necessarily. This just gives the Kings some additional options.

For example, they can loan him to Swift Current (the CHL team that owns his rights). But more likely, this gives them the chance to play more hockey (either in the AHL or NHL) after his season in Europe completes.

Yes, they could also just plug him in the AHL, but from what I heard, it's probably back to Europe

I hope you are right. And even though they will never admit it publicly, I think the Kings management has learned from some of their huge mistakes in development (specifically AHL usage for very young players) that caused serious damage to some prospects, including multiple 1st rounders who lagged behind after AHL usage.

I think it’s very likely Clarke is in the NHL the entire season, and that would not have been the case had he been drafted by the Kings in 2017-2020.

He's going to bust right down into a tiny little rabbit hole.
